Office of the County Judge • 300 East 26" St. • Suite 114 • Bryan, Texas 77803 • Fax: (979) 361 -4503 q`i 1,5 COMMISSIONERS' COURT WORKSHOP SESSION MAY 14, 2007 The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a Workshop Session in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14 2007 with the following members of the Court present: Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding; Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The Commissioner's Court met to hear a presentation by a Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS) representative on pension payout limitations. Howard Miller, from TCDRS gave the presentation on TCDRS and IRC Section 415 Compliance. This section puts a payment limit on what TCDRS can pay retirees. Mr. Miller stated there are options for the County to consider such as doing nothing or adopting a qualified replacement plan that would payout the difference owed to the retiree. In essence, the County would be escrowing amounts that the employee might be shorted.
