NOTICE OF MEETING
SPECIAL CALLED SESSION
BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN A SPECIAL CALLED
SESSION ON FRIDAY 6 JANUARY 2006 AT 11:30 A.M. IN SUITE 115 OF THE
BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26 T" STREET, BRYAN, TEXAS.
1. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance - Judge Sims.
Consider and take action on agenda items 2 - 4:
2. Continuation or renewal of the Declaration of Local State of Disaster, as
established with Brazos County Proclamation 05-013 under §418.108 of the
Government Code.
3. Convene into Executive Session pursuant to §551.074 of the Texas Government
Code to discuss the appointment of a Judge for County Court at Law # 1.
4. Consider and possible action on the Executive Session.
5. Adjourn
The Brazos County Courthouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign

SPECIAL MEETING
JANUARY 6, 2006
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas was held in the Brazos County Commissioners
Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas,
beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2006 with the
following members of the Court present:
Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding;
Eric Caldwell, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4:
Karen McQueen, County Clerk.
The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and
officials that were in attendance.
The County Judge led the invocation and pledge of
allegiance.
The Court proceeded to consider the Declaration of Local
State Disaster, as established with Brazos County Proclamation
05-013 under § 418.108 of the Government Code. The County
Judge would like to see it expire on the same date as the burn
ban. On motion by the County Judge, seconded by Commissioners
Peters and Cauley, the Court voted unanimously to continue the
fireworks ban until March 6, 2006 unless terminated earlier.

At 11:38 a.m. the County Judge announced the meeting
closed to the public so that the Court could meet in Closed
Executive Session to discuss the appointment of a Judge for
County Court at Law # 1 as allowed under Section 551.074 of
the Texas Government Code.
At 12:00 p.m. the County Judge announced the meeting open
to the public and on motion by the County Judge, seconded by
Commissioners Peters and Cauley, the Court voted unanimously
to appoint Bill Ballard as Judge of County Court at Law # 1
until after the general election in November. He will begin
February 1 or sooner as it coordinates with the Court docket.
There being no further business to come before the Court,
the meeting was adjourned.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS the County of Brazos continues to be under imminent threat of severe damage, injury
or loss of life or property resulting from:
THE THREAT OF WILDFIRES DUE TO DROUGHT AND OTHER
WEATHER RELATED CONDITIONS; and
WHEREAS, The County Judge of Brazos County has determined that extraordinary measures
must be taken to alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BRAZOS COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS COURT:
1. That the local state of disaster for Brazos County, as proclaimed in Brazos County
Proclamation 05-013 pursuant to §418.108(a) of the Texas Government Code, shall remain in
effect until 6 March 2006 when Order 05-011 prohibiting outdoor burning expires, unless
terminated earlier based on a determination by the Texas Forest Service or this Court.
2. Pursuant to §418.108(c) of the Texas Government Code, this Declaration of a local state of
disaster shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the
County Clerk of Brazos County.
3. Pursuant to §418.108(d) of the Texas Government Code, this Declaration of a local state of
disaster activates the Brazos County Emergency Management Plan.
This Proclamation shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance, ORDERED
THIS THE 6' DAY OF JANUARY 2006.
