TEXAS f 1 f Y BRAZOS COUNTY COMISSIONERS COURT WORKSHOP SESSION THE BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN A WORKSHOP SESSION ON MONDAY 12 DECEMBER 2005 AT 2:00 P.M. This Workshop will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Brazos County Courthouse, 300 East 26 h Street, Suite 115, Bryan, Texas for the purpose of discussing reimbursement fees for jurors. 1. Call to Order 2. A review of the options available to Brazos County for reimbursement of expenses paid to jurors, as required by Senate Bill 1704, 79d' Legislative Session. 3. Adjourn The Brazos County Courthouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign interpretive services must be made two business days before the meeting. Bryan, Texas 77803 • Fax: (979) 3614503 YOL 75 PAGE 1 ~)5 COMMISSIONERS' COURT WORKSHOP SESSION DECEMBER 12, 2005 The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a Workshop Session in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005, with the following members of the Court present: Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding; Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The County Judge turned the floor over to Katie Conner, County Auditor who outlined the options available for setting reimbursement rates for jurors. The State will reimburse the county $34 for every $40 paid to jurors. The Justices of the Peace, are asking that the jurors in their courts be paid possibly $15 the first day and then $50 per day for each additional day served thereafter. They would have to have access to the TSG Module for the Jury Fund. Vol `75 Page 13 Commissioners Court meeting December 12, 2005 2 The County courts at Law and the District Courts would like to see no money paid the first day and then $50 per day thereafter. The County Judge would like to eliminate the first day's payment of $6 and pay for the succeeding days served at $15 per day. Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Charles Ellis, on speaker phone, didn't want to handle the paperwork involved. He suggested that the Court wait until after the Justice of the Peace meeting on Wednesday.
