IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURTROOM OF THE BRAZOS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 300 EAST 26TH STREET, SUITE 115, BRYAN, TEXAS. THE COURT WILL HEAR COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED TAX INCREASE FOR 2005. ALL INTERESTED PERSONS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND SAID HEARING AND PRESENT THEIR CAUSE, IF ANY, FOR OR AGAINST THE TAX INCREASE FOR 2005. The Brazos Center is wheelchair accessible. Brazos County Courthouse • 300 East 26h St. • Suite 106 • Bryan, Texas 77803 • Fax: (979) 823-6993 COMMISSIONERS' COURT PUBLIC HEARING AUGUST 30, 2005 The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a Public Hearing in room 210 of the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, with the following members of the Court present: Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding; Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in attendance. The purpose of the hearing is to hear commentary on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2005 through 2006. The following citizens spoke in favor of the requested increases for the Sheriff's department personnel: Marc Hamlin, District Clerk Bob Bell Frank Duchmasclo Phil Banks, Attorney Matt Seymore John Miller Wayne Thompson Chris Kirk, Sheriff Greg Boyd Isaac Butler, Constable, Precinct 4 Demetrios Basdekas Karen Hall Dr. G. H. Jones Vol -71 Page 18& court to take a closer look at tax increases or borrowing money. Just because you have the authority to do so, does not mean it is right. County Judge - asked what the total two cents reduction in taxes would equate to whereupon the County Auditor replied it was $1.4 million. No one else asked to speak. The County Judge announced that the Commissioners Court would meet again in a special session today at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom. There being no further comment, the County Judge declared the Public hearing closed.
