WORKSHOP SESSION
THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL MEET IN A WORKSHOP SESSION ON
MONDAY 15 AUGUST 2005 AT 9:00 A.M. AT THE BRAZOS COUNTY
HEALTH DEPARTMENT, 201 N. TEXAS AVENUE, BRYAN, TEXAS.
1. Call to Order.
2. Discussion of the proposed increase in fees for on-site sewage facilities.
3. Adjourn.
The Brazos County Health Department is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request

WORKSHOP SESSION
AUGUST 15, 2005
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a
Workshop Session at the Brazos County Health Department in
Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday,
August 15, 2005, with the following members of the Court
present:
Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding;
Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in
attendance.
The Commissioner's Court met to discuss proposed
increases in fees for on-site sewage facilities. The County
Judge opened the Public Hearing and asked for comments from
the Health Department.
Julie Anderson, Head Sanitarian explained the purpose for
the Public Hearing saying that it was to discuss an increase
in fees from $150 to $200. This amount is recommended after
the completion of a survey by the Health Department of like
counties.
The County Judge asked for comments from citizens.

Montel Rutledge, Chairman of the Texas On-Site Wastewater
Treatment Research Council, presented the Court with the
results of a statewide survey.
Commissioner Mallard stated that the Health Department
and Board had looked at these figures to see if they were
adequate.
Commissioner Peters asked if there was a different fee
for residential and commercial
He was told that there was
not.
Roger Williams stated that the increase in fees could
conceivably keep people who were trying to build a house on
the "Affordable Housing Program" from building in Brazos
County.
Julie Anderson said that the Health Department has worked
with this group in the past and could waive the fees if it
became an issue.
There being no further commentary from the public, the
County Judge closed the Public Hearing.

The foregoing minutes of the Commissioners Court Workshop
held August 15, 2005, have been examined and approved in open
