To make arrangements, call (979) 361-4102. 23~ VOL COMMISSIONERS' COURT REGULAR MEETING JUNE 21, 2005 A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos C unty, Texas was held in the Brazos Center 3232 Briarcrest D in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 6:00 p.m. o Tuesday, June 21, 2005 with the following members of the Crt present: Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding; Eric Caldwell, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and officials that were in attendance. Commissioner Peters gave the invocation and led the p dge of allegiance. There was no citizen input/and or concerns. The Court next considered Budget Amendment #04/05-32.1 though 32.4, which would reallocate funds for the District Attorney Crime Fund and Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, Pl ce 2; transfer funds from Contingency to Constable, Pr cinct 1, and from County Judge to Non Departmental. On mo'ion by Commissioner Cauley, seconded by Commissioner Pe rs, the Court voted unanimously to approve the budget V 1 Page 36 mmissioners Court meeting June 21, 2006 2 endment as submitted, a copy of which is attached. The Court proceeded to consider the change of status of ployees as submitted on the attached Personnel Action quests. On motion by Commissioner Cauley, seconded by mmissioner Peters, the Court voted unanimously to approve e change of status as submitted. The Court next considered the following Claims as submitted by the County Treasurer for payment: 7007748 through 7007768 and 7008031 through 7008272 0 motion by Commissioner Peters, seconded by Commissioner M'llard, the Court voted unanimously to approve the Claims as s' mitted. The County Judge read aloud a Proclamation #05-007 d ignating the month of June "National Health and Safety M th". The Court joins with the two cities encouraging all e loyees and their families to support all efforts that rb uce the number of workplace injuries and deaths while p moting a healthy work environment. On motion by C issioner Peters, seconded by Commissioner Wassermann the C rt moved to proclaim the month of June as "National Health a Safety Month" throughout Brazos County. The County Judge t n presented the signed Proclamation to Ms. Marcy Hosking, ~ '7 r,be a3 G nmissioners Court meeting June 21, 2006 3 presenting the local Health Department. The next matter before the Court was the Brazos County munity Healthcare Endowment Fund (CHEF) recommendations for 2005-2006. The recommendations are as follows: a. The next matter before the Court was to consider adoption o Order #05-003 prohibiting outdoor burning in Brazos County f ninety(90)days. This is necessitated due to the u easonably dry conditions in the county in which the KBI is a 502. On motion by Commissioner Cauley, seconded by the C my Judge, the Court voted unanimously to adopt the order p hibiting outdoor burning in Brazos County for ninety(90) d s to be effective June 21, 2005. A copy of the Order is attached hereto. The Court next considered the appointment of an i ividual to serve on the Brazos Valley Council of 1 Page 937 - 6 7 mmissioners Court meeting June 21, 2006 4 vernments Solid Waste Advisory Committee and the City of yan's representative. On motion by Commissioner Mallard, conded by Commissioner Cauley, the Court voted unanimously appoint Mark Jurica to serve on the Brazos Valley Council Governments Solid Waste Advisory Committee and the City of yan's representative. The next matter for consideration by the Court was a r quest submitted by the Director of the Information T chnology Department seeking approval for out of state t avel for Ben Truong and Bill Holland to attend the East C ast Pentamation Conference in Philadelphia, P' nsylvania. The dates of travel are September 18, 2005 t ough September 21, 2005. On motion by Commissioner Ci ley, seconded by Commissioner Wassermann, the Court v" ed unanimously to grant the request from the Director o the Information Technology Department and approved p ent of out of state travel expense for Ben Truong and B 1 Holland. The next matter for consideration by the Court was a r uest submitted by the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 Place 2 'seeking approval for out of state travel for himself to t vel to the National Judicial College in New Orleans, L isiana. On motion by Commissioner Peters, seconded by mmissioner Cauley, the Court voted unanimously to grant the quest from the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 Place 2 and proved payment of out of state travel expense for Ray uelove. The next matter for consideration was approval of tax fund applications from the following individuals and/or meanies: a. Brent Vinson, Over Payment $60.63 b. Stuart Brentleigh Vinson, Over Payment $263.34 c. Long Beach Mortgage Loan Trust, Over Payment $518.89 d. Tommy Joe Jackson & Kathleen Ganter Jackson, Over Payment $87.88 0 motion by Commissioner Peters, seconded by Commissioner W sermann, the Court voted unanimously to approve the tax r'I and applications. The Court next considered a request from the Jail A inistrator for approval of a payment authorization to C tract Pharmacy Services in the amount of $531.07. This was n essary because the invoice exceeded the purchase order a unt. On motion by the County Judge, seconded by C issioner Peters, the Court voted unanimously to approve t'' payment authorization. On motion by C issioner Wassermann, seconded by Commissioner Peters, the Crt voted unanimously to accept the roads and drainage s uctures in Estate of Royder Ridge Subdivision for county ntenance. Under Agency/Board/Committee reports by Court members, tfollowing spoke: Commissioner Mallard a) The Intergovernmental Committee met with the Emergency Management Coordinator to get updates on events. Mike Paulus spoke on bio- terrorism. A Special Agent with the FBI gave a report citing Houston as being a potential problem. Also discussed was work on roads in Brazos County, sometime in the future turning FM 2818 into a freeway with an overpass. DeMerle Giordano, Emergency Management Coordinator, informed the Court that there would be a statewide exercise held here on June 28th. b) He and Commissioner Wassermann just got back from the Dallas area with representatives from the City of College Station.
