VOA ~g PAGE q-S COMMISSIONERS' COURT REGULAR MEETING APRIL 12, 2005 b f 01 01 A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos ty, Texas was held in the Brazos County Commissioners C40rtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, inning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 with the lowing members of the Court present: Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding; Lloyd Wassermann, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and icials that were in attendance. The County Judge gave the invocation and led the pledge allegiance. There was no citizen input/and or concerns. The Court proceeded to consider the change of status of Dloyees as submitted on the attached Personnel Action Requests. On motion by Commissioner Cauley, seconded by C issioner Peters, the Court voted unanimously to approve t changes as submitted. The next matter before the Court was the approval of a nt authorization to the Brazos Valley Tree Farm for ntenance of trees for the Expo Center. On motion by issioner Peters, seconded by Commissioner Mallard, the C#rt voted unanimously to approve the payment of $4,000.00 to top Brazos Valley Tree Farm. The Court next considered the appointment of Katie C#ner, County Auditor, as Records Management Officer. This i411 in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 203, S#tion 203.025. On motion by Commissioner Peters, seconded b Commissioner Cauley, the Court voted unanimously to appoint K ie Conner, County Auditor, as Records Management Officer i f offices headed by appointed officials and salaried d artment heads effective immediately. The next matter for consideration by the Court was a r uest submitted by the Sheriff's Office seeking approval for o of state travel for Sergeant David Villarreal to travel to C cago, Illinois April 25th through April 29th for the national J lint Terrorism Task Force Conference. They will be traveling d ing the week of April 9 through 16, 2005. On motion by C issioner Cauley, seconded by Commissioner Peters, the Court v ed unanimously to grant the request from the District A orney and approved payment of out of state travel expense f Bill Turner and Jay Granberry. The next matter for consideration by the Court was a r nest submitted by the Jail Administrator seeking approval f out of state travel for the following individuals: a. Lt. David Drosche b. Sgt. The next matter before the Court was approval of two r uisitions. One is for the purchase of a Holland TS115 4WD Tf~ctor in the amount of $37,809.97 and the other for the p#chase of a Boom Mower in the amount of $38,680.48. The next matter before the Court was the acceptance of N j'~th Country Phase 2 and Phase 3 in Precinct 2 for Brazos C my maintenance as the roads (portion of North Country i D ve, North Country Court and Riata Court) and drainage s uctures are in compliance with Brazos County's Subdivision a Development Regulations. The County Judge moved to a rove. Commissioner Wassermann seconded the motion. C issioners Wassermann, Mallard, Cauley and the County Judge v ed "Aye". Commissioner Peters abstained saying that this wd* his cousin's property. The Court next considered acceptance of the Wellborn SdIcial Utility District cost estimate of $3,307.00 for relocation of approximately 220(±) Linear Feet of water line, t ;accommodate the Burt Road Bridge replacement and authorize t County Judge to sign the requisition for payment thereof. On motion by Commissioner ley, seconded by Commissioner Peters, the Court voted nimously to accept the Wellborn Special Utility District t estimate of $3,307.00 for relocation of a water line on Burt Road and authorized the County Judge to sign the requisition for payment. VOL PACE S I C issioners Court meeting April 12, 2005 The Court next considered the request from Wellborn S cial Utility District to construct 725 feet of water line i tallation in the new right-of-way of North Dowling Road b 'inning approximately 100 feet west of its intersection with W dlands Drive. The site is located in Precinct 1. The C+~nty Engineer stated that all appeared to be in order and r ommended approval. On motion by Commissioner Wassermann, s onded by Commissioner Peters, the Court voted unanimously t approve the request from Wellborn Special Utility District authorized the installation. A copy of the request is attached hereto. The Court next considered acceptance of a Special W ranty Deed for right-of-way on North Dowling Road in P cinct 1. On motion by Commissioner Wassermann, seconded by issioner Peters, the Court voted unanimously to authorize County Judge to accept on behalf of Brazos County a ranty Deed from Richard H. White and wife Peggy S. White the expansion and improvements to North Dowling Road. The Court next considered the request from Patterson P4iroleum LP to construct a road bore for a natural gas g tiering pipeline in the right-of-way of Hudspeth Road a roximately 4,890 feet from its intersection with FM 2038. I luded with the request is a company check no. 1458 in the a unt of $500.00. The site is located in Precinct 2. Under Agency/Board/Committee reports by Court members, thj following spoke: Commissioner Mallard a) Had a meeting last week with Col. Larsen, a nationally known bio terrorism expert, who spoke with both cities and the Brazos Valley Council of Governments. Commissioner Wassermann a) There were boat and canoe races on the Brazos River last weekend. Kudos go to the Road and Bridge Department for their work to clean up Koppe Bridge and Batts Ferry Road allowing people to enter the river at these spots. County Judge a) Someone needs to call Brazos Beautiful to put a team together for the cleanup day scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on April 30, 2005. County Engineer a) Said if the Court would let him know the problem areas Brazos Beautiful will target on clean up day, his department will try to get in ahead of TOL 'A PACE 63 Court meeting April 12, 2005 9 time and help clean up. t Arlene Parchman, Director of Community Supervision a) Said that any Saturday afternoon you can have about 40 to 50 probationers as well to help clean up.
