AUGUST 24, 2004
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a
lic Hearing in the Commissioners Courtroom in the
rthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 3:00
on Tuesday, August 24, 2004, with the following members
the Court present:
Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding;
Eric Caldwell, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in
~ndance.
The County Judge announced the purpose of the meeting is
near commentary for or against the proposed tax increase
2004. The proposed tax rate is $.4725 per hundred-dollar
uation. The County Judge asked those wishing to speak to
~it their remarks to four (4) minutes each and then opened
meeting for comments.
Demetrios Basdekas, 7191 Old Reliance Rd., Bryan,
Texas - has concerns about the tax rate. He
believes the Court needs to reconsider. This is a
substantial increase and he believes money is being
channeled to fund the Exposition Center. He is not
opposed to the Exposition Center, but does have
objections to the Committee meeting in private. He

does not agree with citizens being shut out of the
process.
Lee B. Groce, 1632 B Park Place, College Station,
Texas - owns two lots, one of which has a
doublewide mobile home on it. He is protesting the
appraisal on this property. He said the taxes are
too high.
There being no further comment, the County Judge declared
Public hearing closed.
