A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
lnty, Texas was held in the Brazos County Commissioners
lrtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas,
inning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2004 with the
lowing members of the Court present:
Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding;
Eric Caldwell, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4,
Absent
Karen McQueen, County Clerk.
The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and
icials that were in attendance.
There was no citizen's input and/or concerns.
The Court next considered the appointment of Presiding
[ges and Alternate Judges for elections conducted by the
~nty. The County Clerk noted that Paul Peterson should be
~ernate Judge in Precinct 17 rather than Precinct 16. On
~ion by the County Judge, seconded by Commissioner Peters,
Court voted unanimously to appoint the following persons
presiding judge and alternate judge for the current voting

Under announcement of interest items and possible future
ac ~nda topics, the following spoke:
Commissioner Mallard
a) Said that he and Commissioner Peters had attended a
water meeting in Hearne yesterday. The Water Board
discussed water rights being tied to the land. They
had concerns with regulations concerning oil and gas
drilling and the costs to follow this. He said the
Board is split on the issue. He said the Court needs
to contact the Board members appointed by Brazos
County and make sure they are representing Brazos
County's best interests. He would also like to speak
with representatives so that this amendment to the
bylaws does not get passed.
County Judge
a) Suggested putting a letter together saying we are not
in favor and send it to all eight (8) board members.
There was no citizen's input and/or concerns.
There were no Agency/Board/Committee reports by Court
