COMMISSIONERS' COURT REGULAR MEETING MARCH 23, 2004 C¢ C¢ b( f( OZ t P C C S A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos lnty, Texas was held in the Brazos County Commissioners lUrtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, ]inning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 with the llowing members of the Court present: Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding; Eric Caldwell, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4; Karen McQueen, County Clerk. The attached sheet contains the names of the citizens and [icials that were in attendance. Commissioner Mallard gave the invocation and led the edge of allegiance. There was no citizen input/and or concerns. The Court next considered Budget Amendment %03/04-22.1 rough 22.2, which would reallocate funds for Constable, ~ecinct 1, and Juvenile Title IV E Division. On motion by Commissioner Cauley, seconded by ~nissioner Peters, the Court voted unanimously to approve changes as submitted. The Court next considered the following Claims as mitted by the County Treasurer for payment: 20061103 through 20061364 imotion by Commissioner Peters, seconded by Commissioner ~lard, the Court voted unanimously to approve the Claims as bmitted. On motion by Commissioner Peters, seconded by ~issioner Cauley, the Court voted unanimously to form lommittee comprised of the following individuals: Kenny Mallard - County Commissioner Carey Cauley, Jr. - County Commissioner Rick Davis - Judge, 272nd District Court Karen McQueen - County Clerk The Court next considered awarding the following Bid No. 2004-020, Removal of Existing Box Culverts !i and Construction of New Two Lane Roadway Bridge on Bird Pond Road at Carter Creek. ~lky Stephens, Senior Buyer, recommended acceptance of 31 bid submitted by Wakefield Bridge, Inc. On motion by ~missioner Mallard, seconded by Commissioner Cauley, ~ Court voted unanimously to accept the recommendation the Senior Buyer and award the contract to Wakefield idge, Inc. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached. The next matter before the Court was a request by e Purchasing Department for approval to renew Bid 003-027, Seal Coat Projects. The Primary Vendor for Bid 03-027 is F. N. Ploch Construction Company and the ¢ondary Vendor is big Tex Paving, Inc. Both companie~ we agreed to keep their pricing the same for an .ditional year. On motion Commissioner Peters, seconded by Commissioner Cauley, ~i~ Court voted unanimously to remove this item from the ~nda. Linda Muegge, Right-of-Way Agent for Brazos ~nty and the County Engineer explained why land was ling taken from one side of the road and not the other. ~y cited reduced expenses in that they would not have ~move power lines, telephone lines, etc. Charlotte ~le, daughter of Elois Williams Wooten, was upset ~ause of what she felt was the lack of communication. S County Judge asked her if she wanted the road Traded at which she replied that she did. Gloria ~liams voiced the same concerns about taking right-of- y from one side of the road and not both. Mrs. Poole quested a conference with the Commissioner and Road and idge Department personnel on this matter. Several years ago they got an estimate of $3,000.00 for the sign. They will probably ask the county for funding assistance for the project. County Judge a) Several will be going to Austin on Thursday to make a presentation on transportation.
