NOTICE OF WORKSHOP SESSION
BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
APRIL 21, 2003
THE COMMISSIONERS COURT WILL CONDUCT A WORKSHOP SESSION ON
MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2003 AT 2:00 P.M. IN ROOM 102 OF THE BRAZOS CENTER,
3232 BRIARCREST DRIVE, BRYAN, TEXAS.
THE COURT WILL HEAR A PRESENTATION BY THE MENTAL HEALTH
MENTAL RETARDATION AUTHORITY OF BRAZOS VALLEY REGARDING
BUDGET CUTS PROPOSED BY THE STATE LEGISLATURE AND THE IIMPACT
ON MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.
The Brazos Center is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available. Any request for sign

WORKSHOP SESSION
APRIL 21, 2003
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas met in a
Workshop Session in room 102 of the Brazos Center in Bryan,
Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April
21, 2003, with the following members of the Court present:
Randy Sims, County Judge, Presiding;
Tony Jones, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Duane Peters, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Kenny Mallard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Carey Cauley, Jr., Commissioner of Precinct 4 Absent;
Karen McQueen, County Clerk, Absent.
Attached is a list of the citizens and officials in
attendance.
The Commissioners Court met in Workshop Session to hear
a presentation by the Mental Health Mental Retardation
authority of Brazos Valley (MHMR)concerning budget cuts
proposed by the state legislature and the impact on mental
health services in the local community. Leon Bawcom,
representative of the MHMR gave the presentation. The
following individuals spoke on the necessity of continued
funding for the MHMR:
