COMMISSIONERS' COURT REGULAR MEETING MARCH 9, 1992 Ir~ A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 1992, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Executive Assistant Carol Palmer Admin. Asst. to County Judge Cheryl Turney Auditor's Office Rhonda Seaton Auditor's Office Bill Turner District Attorney Sandie Walker Deputy Treasurer Anne Friedenberg KBTX-TV Joe Larger KBTX-TV Craig Weaver KBTX-TV Wayne Beck Ferguson Crossing Allen Hart Ferguson Crossing Mark Hiatt Brazos Valley Task Force Commissioner Sims gave the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commis- sioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution authorizing the County Judge of Brazos County to make application for a grant from the Texas Narcotics Control Program through the Criminal Justice Division Office of the Governor. Such grant fund should they be awarded will be used to aid local law enforcement agencies in enforcing the Texas Controlled Substances Act and Dangerous Drugs Act. The County Judge will be authorized to accept such grant funds should they be tendered. A copy of the Resolution is attached. The Court acknowledged receipt of the Extension Service reports for February 1992. The Court acknowledged receipt of reports from County and Precinct officers showing revenues collected and remitted to 'V'B 1 Vol Jr Commissioners' Court meeting March 9, 1992 the County Treasurer. An excerpt from those reports is • attached hereto. The Court proceeded to consider the change of status of the following employees. NAME DEPARTMENT REASON Johnson, Linda Extension Service Resignation Hamlin, Nolan Sheriff Office Transfer on motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to approve the changes as submitted. Task Force Claims-04911-thru-04928- On motion by Commissioner Sims, secondedfby Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to approve the Claims as submitted with the exception of claim number 4588. THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF BRAZOS A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR GRANT FROM TEXAS NARCOTICS CONTROL PROGRAM • • WHEREAS, the Anti-Drug Act of 1988 was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in order to strengthen local law enforcement efforts to combat the spread of narcotics trafficking; and WHEREAS, the State of Texas will receive federal grant funding for the Texas Narcotics Control Program under the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988, P.L. 100-690; and WHEREAS, the Governor of Texas, has designated the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, to administer the program in the form of grants to state agencies and local units of government; and WHEREAS, Brazos County has a continuing need for aid to local law enforcement agencies in enforcing the Texas Controlled Substances Act and Dangerous Drugs Act; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF BRAZOS COUNTY at its meeting on the 9th day of March, 1992 that: 1. The County Judge of Brazos County, acting on behalf of e Brazos County be authorized to make application to the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, for grant funds to be used for the apprehension, detection, and enforcement of the laws pertaining to the Texas Controlled Substances Act and Dangerous Drugs Act; and 2. The County Judge be authorized to accept such grant funds should they be tendered; and 3, This resolution becomes effective upon its adoption. R. J.
