TEXAS FILED 91 DC~ P!~ 4' 00 CLERK D:.: OS COU ~Y C 6 Y NOTICE OF PUBLIC WORKSHOP REGARDING REALIGNING COMMISSIONER AND JUSTICE OF THE PEACE PRECINCTS The Brazos County Commissioners Court will hold a public workshop for the purpose of gathering additional information in regard to the redrawing of Commissioner and Justice of the Peace Precinct boundaries. The workshop will be conducted on Friday, October 11, 1991 at 2:00 P.M. in room 115 of the Brazos County Couxthouse, 300 East 26th Street, Bryan, Texas. All interested citizens are invited to attend and present comments or plans at this time. Maps showing the proposed precincts as they will be discussed are on display in the Commissioners Courtroom and may be seen by contacting the County Judge's Office at 361-4102 or your County Commissioner at 361-4109. V(),--~- PAG E-1-1E COMMISSIONERS' COURT WORK SHOP SESSION OCTOBER 11, 1991 The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas held a Work Shop Sessiom for the purpose of gathering additional information in regard to the redrawing of Commissioner and Justice of the Peace Precinct boundaries in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 1991, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Absent; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Mary Ann Ward, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Carey Cauley Irma Cauley Mary Horn Greg Hudson Michael Wroblewski George Boyett Daniel R. Hernandez Steve Gongora James Garcia, Jr. Ron Miller Winfred Pittman Bill Meeks Jim Hiney Richard Rosas Harold Eaton Executive Assistant N.A.A.C.P. Brazos County Resident Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Bickerstaff, Heath & Smiley Bickerstaff, Heath & Smiley Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Brazos County Resident Brazos County Resident LULAC Brazos County Sheriff Constable Pct. 7 B/CS Eagle B/CS Eagle Brazos County Resident Brazos County Resident The Court met in Work Shop Session to gather additional information based on computerized data presented by represen- tatives of Bickerstaff, Heath and Smiley in regard to the Commissioner and Justice of the Peace Precinct boundaries. The members of the group assembled and the Commissioners gathered around the maps discussing and rejecting several op- tions. They finally reached a compromise on one proposal but would have to wait until the census figures could be recalcu- lated to see if they reflected a balanced ethnic break down. There being no further discussion, the Work Shop session was adjourned.
