HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-09-27-0100PM-Budget4 ti i COMMISSIONERS' COURT BUDGET HEARING .y SEPTEMBER 27, 1990 The Commissioners' Court meet in special session to hold a public hearing on the County budget for 1991. The meeting began at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 1990, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Carol Palmer Phyllis Dozier Sharon Fairchild i Linda Castoria Executive Assistant Admin. Asst. to County Judge M Brazos Center Auditor , Rape Crisis Center i The County Judge opened the public hearing on the 1991 Budget for Brazos County. The Court reviewed the Revenues section of the General fund and Road and Bridge Fund and proceeded to go through the General Fund expenditures by department. F Anti DWI Program - Will be changed when the grant is approved. 85th District Court - Commissioner Sims asked if the Court had complied with the court order. He was told they had. Brazos Center - Phyllis Dozier appeared before the Court requesting an increase in the salary of Delfino Sandoval. She requested that his classification be changed to a pay group 9. The County Judge asked to take that up at a later date. Fire Protection - The budget for the Millican Volunteer Fire Department be reduced by the amount of the radio purchase in 1990 which is $6,617.00. Environmental Protection - Commissioner Norton stated if no more ditches were needed then the budget amount would be fine. Justice of the Peace Pct. 7 Place 1 - Amount budgeted is for current location only and not on proposed new facility. Community Support - Linda Castoria, representative of the Rape Crisis Center requested the same amount that was budgeted previously which was $10,000.00. She thanked the Court for taking up the amount of the grant. Road and Bridge General - Boonville Cemetery - Commissioner Wilcox asked how much had been received in donations. He was informed that it was approximately $12,000. Commissioners' Court Budget Hearing September 27, 1990 Road and Bridge - Commissioner Sims recommended setting the 1991 budget at the same amount as the 1991 revenue for Road and Bridge. After much discussion of the Road and Bridge expenditures, Commissioner Wilcox recommended the expenditures be budgeted at no more than the 1988 budget of $2,501,633.00. Commissioner Sims recommended the I expenditures be set at the same amount as the revenue of $2,914,895.00 with the following changes to the Road and Bridge budget: Reduce Professional Services to $4,900 Reduce Uniform Rental to $2,750 Reduce Automotive to $30,000 Reduce Road & Bridge Heavy Equipment to $180,000 Reduce Other Equipment to $20,710 The total expenditures to be budgeted for Road and Bridge after the above reduction would be $2,910,392.00. The County Judge asked if there were any further comments. There being none, he declared the Public Hearing closed and the meeting adjourned.
