COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 24, 1990 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 1990, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Absent; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Absent; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Presiding; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Bea Green secretary to Commissioners Rosalie Todaro Auditor's Office Cheryl Turney Auditor's Office A. H. Winder County Engineer Terri White Treasurer's Office Candy Cochran County Clerk's Office Jim Hiney Bryan/College Station Eagle Alice Brown KBTX-TV Joe Larger KBTX-TV Tom Rehm KBTX-TV Shawn Riley Candidate for Co. Comm. Pct. 2 Bob Reese Candidate for County Clerk Commissioner Sims gave the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. The Court next considered Budget Amendment $17, which would reallocate funds budgeted for the Justice of the Peace Precinct 7 Places 1 and 2, Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Place 2, oil and Gas Fund and increase the budget for the Health and Life Insurance fund to adjust for increased premiums and claims. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to approve the budget amendment as submitted, a copy of which is attached hereto. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commis- sioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to forward a letter to Dr. Milo Shult, Associate Director of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service pledging the full support of 6Y r~ • 0 . ners' Court meeting September 24, 1990 the court for the Model State 4-H Project for youth at risk. It is the opinion of the Court that these young people be given opportunities to improve their skill and enhance their future productivity. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by commis- sioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to table consideration of the Special Warranty Deed on two (2) parcels of land in the original townsite of Millican. The Court next considered a revision of the Annual rental Contract for Heavy Machinery, Bid #90-555, for the Road and Bridge Department. Holland Winder explained that on September 10, 1990 he recommend acceptance of each low bid on each item. He explained that item #2 should have been awarded to Summitt Equipment Company and item #14 should have been awarded to R. B. Everett Company. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to rescend the order of September 10, 1990, awarding the contract for items #2 and #4 on Bid # 90-555 - Annual Rental Contract for Heavy Machinery and award the contract for item #2 to Summit Equipment Company and item #14 to R.B. Everett Company. The Court next considered authorizing work outside of county rights-of-ways for the enhancement of county road projects. The Road and Bridge Department requests permission to enter the private property of Ann Grayson on River Road in Precinct 4 to clear a site distance in a ninety (90) degree curve. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to authorize the work. The Court received, approved and ordered filed as submitted the Treasurer's report for August 1990. A copy of which is attached to and made a part of these minutes. The Court acknowledged receipt of the Extension Service reports for August 1990 and acknowledged receipt of reports from County and Precinct Offices showing revenues collected and remitted to the County Treasurer. An excerpt from those reports is attached hereto. There being no further business to come before the Court, the meeting was adjourned.
