Adjourn. .j i i voL___L_PAG COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 18, 1990 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 1990, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Absent; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Presiding; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Executive Assistant Carol Palmer Admin. Asst. to County Judge Bea Green Secretary to Commissioners Cheryl Turney Auditor's Office A. H. Lewis Candidate for Co. Comm. Pct. 4 Elaine Jones Lewis Brazos County Resident Commissioner Sims gave the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. The Court next considered Budget Amendment #9, which would reallocate funds budgeted for the Jury Services Department and increase the budget of the Foster Care Fund by $230,200. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to approve the budget amendment as submitted, a copy of which is attached hereto. ~fl O L, Commissioners' Court meeting June 18, 1990 I li a~ • • The Court next considered awarding the following bid: Bid No. 90-547 - Mowing Equipment for the Road and Bridge Department (3 units) Bidder Unit Price Total Price Town & Country $8,335.00 $25,005.00 Brazos Machinery $7,906.69 $23,720.07 Case Power & Equip. $7,765.00 $23,295.00 Brookside Equip. No Bid No Bid Holland Winder, County Engineer, recommended acceptance of the low bid submitted by Case Power & Equipment Company. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the County Engineer and award the contract to Case Power & Equipment Company. The Court next considered the request by Clayton Williams Company to install natural gas lines across the right-of-way of Hopes Creek Road in Precinct 1. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to approve the request of the Clayton Williams Company and authorized the installation. A copy of the request is attached hereto. The Court next considered the request by General Telephone Company to install communication cable within the right-of-way of Old Bundick and Macy Roads in Precinct 2. The County Engineer stated all was in order. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to approve the request of General Telephone Company and authorized the installation. A copy of the request is attached hereto. The Court next considered authorizing work outside of county rights-of-ways for the enhancement of county road projects. The Road and Bridge Department requests permission entry the private property of Lewis Shirley, Jr. to remove brush to improve the site distance around curves on Shirley Road; to enter the private property of Zerle L. Carpenter on the corner of Colette and Alexander Road to obtain water for road construction improvements; to enter the private property of Ross and Rosalie Todaro to remove clay soil to be placed in the bar ditch adjacent to county roads for erosion control. At 6:10 p.m. Commissioner Wilcox announced the meeting closed to the public so that the Court could meet in closed executive session to discuss personnel. At 6:28 p.m. Commissioner Wilcox announced the meeting open to the public. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to approve the request of the County Attorney to increase the salary of Vera Lara Hooge to the budgeted dollars of $19,324.00. On 1 motion by commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted -unanimously to approve the request of the County Engineer to reclassify a position at the sanitary s' I • 1 •I' 0 ssioners' Court meeting June 18, 1990 landfill, creating the position of Landfill Manager. Such position to be classified at a pay group 10 step 1, be budgeted at a pay group 10 step 2 and provided the applicant accepts the position. There being no further business to come before the Court, the meeting was adjourned. That the normal charge is $500 per crossing and/or $40 per rod when paralleling the roadway established by the Commissioners' Court on January 28, 1985. From this point going north, approximately 1,200' of buried cable will be placed near the west edge of the ROW of old Bundick Road.
