VOI._W-PAGF ats' Commissioners' Court Public Hearing November 27, 1989 C. B. Jones - stated that if the people want this Fire Prevention District then vote for it. God Bless them. He asked if the County had received a letter from the cities including the ETJ in the election. He stated that the county must have a letter before calling an election in the ETJ. The County Judge thanked Mr. Jones for his comments and asked if anyone else wished to speak. Alvin Phelps - Fire Chief of Precinct 4 Volunteer Fire Department - read from a prepared statement saying that fire protection is provided solely by 'Volunteers' in the rural area of Brazos County. Current levels of funding are not enough to provide for the proper operation of the fire department. Formation of a Rural Fire Prevention district in Precinct 4 will help provide more reliable funding as well as spread the burden of supporting the fire department more evenly among the property owners in rural Brazos County Precinct 4. The County Judge thanked Mr. Phelps and asked if anyone else wished to speak. There being no further comments from those in attendance, the County Judge then asked for a motion on the petition. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to approve the petition as filed for the Rural Fire Prevention District. There being no further comments from the Court, the County Judge closed the Public Hearing. a i VOL -R) PAGE 77 s.....s~..-_ _.s....+.. _ _ .....L_'+~ ~ .rte ~~..~•=.S ~:a - -,..~tiuy~H..1i.ISt4'm~.la~,"~t~..:a£~..... _ ~t - i i i .I t A r • • The foregoing minutes have been examined and approved in open Court this the . day of 4A 19&' in Bryan, Bra?oa County, Texas. r J.
