Approve a Proclamation designating November 12-18, 1989, as Brazos Arts Week in Brazos County. 4. Consider and take action on the approval of the minutes of the meeting held on October 23, 1989. 5. Consider and take action on Order relocating polling place for voting precinct 30. 6. Consider and take action on the appointment of Karen Tohkubbi as Presiding Judge in Precinct 8. 7. Consider and take action on extension of the Child Pro- tective Services Contract with Department of Human Ser- vices. 8. Consider and take action on request from Precinct 4 Con- -stable in regard to the transfer of a vehicle from the Sheriff's Department. 9. Adjourn. f •h VOL COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 6, 1989 e • A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners" Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan,,Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 1989, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Executive Assistant Carol Palmer Admin. Asst. to County Judge Bea Green Secretary to Commissioners Rosalie Todaro Auditor's Office Holland Winder County Engineer Louis Garcia Constable Pct. 4 Elizabeth Sharp Bryan/College Station Eagle Alice Brown KBTX-TV Joe Larger KBTX-TV Ramiro Quintero Brazos County Resident Dick Britten Brazos County Resident Glen Harding H. Nelson, Inc. Sam Jones KORA-KTAM, B.V. Arts Council Commissioner Sims gave the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. The County Judge proclaimed the week of November 11 through 18, 1989 as 'Brazos Art Week' in Brazos County. The Court'joins with the Brazos Valley Arts Council to ask all citizens of Brazos County to observe and celebrate the week with appropriate ceremonies, programs and activities. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox the Court moved to proclaim the week of November 11 through 18, 1989 as "Brazos Art Week" throughout Brazos County. The County Judge then presented the signed Proclamation to Mr. Sam Jones, representing the Arts Council. The Court next considered approval of the minutes of the Commissioners' Court meeting held October 23, 1989. On motion *I P 1 i 1 1 s'. • f p s i j' u Commissioners' Court meeting November 6, 1989 by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to approve the minutes as submitted. Court next considered an order relocating the polling place of voting precinct 30 from the Fellowship Hall East to the private residence of Stanley Simecek. This was necessary due to the inability to locate a suitable portable building that could be moved to the location. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to E approve the Order relocating the polling place of voting precinct ? 30. A copy of the Order is attached hereto. The Court next considered appointing Karen Tohkubbi as the Election Judge for voting precinct 8. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to appoint Karen Tohkubbi as the Election Judge for voting precinct 8. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to extend the contract with the Department of Human Services for the provision of protective homemaker services. The contract period will be extended from "November 1, 1989, through January 31, 1990, to allow services to continue without interruption. The allocation for the extended period will be $6,700.00. This is an amendment to the contract and not in conflict with the original contract. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to enter into contract for the extended period with the Department of Human Services for the provision of protective homemaker services. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to transfer a vehicle from the Sheriff's Department to that of Constable Precinct 4. The County Judge stated he felt the Court would have to analyze the transfer of vehicles and the cost of repairs on those vehicles. The Court next considered a request for a tax refund from the Association of Former students in the amount of $24,073.17. This request was made in light of an Order of Correction issued VOL V PAGE Commissioners' Court meeting November 6, 1989 by the Brazos County Appraisal Review Board. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to approve the tax refund. The Court proceeded.to consider the change of status of the following employees. At 10:15 a.m. the County Judge announced the meeting closed to the public so that the Court could meet in closed executive ` session to discuss personnel and land acquisition. At 10:50 a.m. the County Judge announced the meeting open to the public. On motion by the County Judge, seconded by Commis- sioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to authorize the • supplemental pay to Susan Cuthbertson and Mary Ann Wolman as r 4 VOL-J-PAGE-Itt • Commissioners' Court meeting November 6, 1989 ` Court Recorders in the 272nd District Court. The $5,000.00 supplement to begin when they actually start as Recorders.
