Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1; ~I Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Absent; j; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; 1 Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. 'I Commissioner Sims gave the invocation and led the pledge of I allegiance. The County Judge read aloud a Proclamation proclaiming July it ;,26, 1989 as "Brazos County Blood Day". The Court joins with the 1ICity of Bryan, Bryan Police Department and the Brazos/Robertson I'County medical Auxiliary to promote awareness in the community of the responsibility to see that blood is available in I sufficient quantities to meet the needs of all hospital ,I .patients. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by I !Commissioner Sims the Court moved to proclaim the 26th of July, ! I :1989 as "Brazos County Blood Day." I ' v I~ 1 I Commissioners' Court meeting July 24, 1989 representing the local Red Cross Chapter and Officer ChoYa Walling of the Bryan Police Department. The Court next considered approval of the minutes of the Commissioners' Court meetings held June 26, 1989 and July 3, ~i1989. On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner ;Sims, the Court voted unanimously to approve the minutes as submitted. ; The Court next reviewed plans for the Health Department 1-with the Architect, Charlie Burris. Mr. Burris explained to the f !'members of the Court the schematic was approved by the Board of Ii ' ;!Directors of the Brazos County Health Department during the May is !meeting. At that time, the project budget was estimated at 'approximately $575,000.00 to just under $600,000.00 but new li ;,estimates put the total cost of $601,00.00 to $625,000.00. Mr. Burris included details of the two proposed facades along with ilinformation on the functionality of the building design. The liCounty Judge thanked Mr. Burris for the presentation. On motion Ii Jby Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to recommend the metal roof design facade ;!needing the least maintenance. Commissioner Sims inquired how f !,long to completion.. Mr. Burris answered it would take ,,approximately six to eight months. ~I The County Judge announced to the audience that Monty i'Dozier, Extension Agent for 4-H submitted his resignation. Mr. ;Dozier was promoted to Program Leader in Crane County. The ,l County Judge went to say that Mr. Dozier has done an exceptional ;'job with the 4-H kids and will be sorely missed. The Court next considered adopting a Resolution in support I !iof Burleson County's application for a State Penitentiary. 'Burleson County is considering either a 2,250 bed maximum 1► ! security facility or a 1,000 bed minimum security facility. On j !!motion by commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Sims, 1the Court voted unanimously to adopt a Resolution in favor of Burleson County's application for a state penitentiary. :ICommissioners' Court meeting July 24, 1989 ~i On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to appoint Celia Goode as -Alternate Judge for absentee voting and Alternate Judge for .Central Counting. i On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to renew the interlocal I !,cooperation act contract with Grayson County for rental of ;dedicated circuits on the Texas Agency Network. This contract concerns the long distance data line used for the motor vehicle program shared by Brazos County and Grayson County. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Norton, tKe Court voted unanimously to appoint Richard Dee Gulledge as a Reserve Deputy for Constable Precinct 7, Winfred Pittman. Mr. Gulledge has advanced Peace officer certification and many years experience in the law enforcement field. ` The Court acknowledged receipt of and ordered filed as submitted the Treasurer's report for June 1989. A copy is attached to and made a part of these minutes. The Court proceeded to consider the change of status of the following employees.
