COMMISSIONERS' COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
JULY 17, 1989
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 3:30
p.m. on Monday, July 17, 1989, with the following members of the
Court present:
R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding;
Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Absent;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Absent;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

Rebecca Shults Purchasing Agent
Ronnie Miller Sheriff
Bill Turner District Attorney
Elizabeth Sharp Bryan/College Station Eagle
Andrew C. Cronk Emmett Trant & Associates

The Court met to review plans for the minimum security
tfacility to be constructed along Sandy Point Road. Mr. Trant
estimated it would take approximately one year to complete
(construction. The facility is designed to hold 123 inmates with
Ian estimated cost of $2,500,000 with a possible $45,000.00 for
Ladd ons. The County Judge recommended securing as much equipment
as possible from the Texas Department of Corrections. It was
the consensus of the Court to use in house employees, to the
extent possible, to do the dirt work needed to bring the site
closer to grade.
There being no further business to come before the Court,
the meeting was adjourned.
