The Court first considered approval of the minutes of the li Commissioners' Court meeting held June 5, 1989. On motion by i !Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court !voted unanimously to approve the minutes as submitted. r' ~I The Court next considered entering into contract with the ;Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Brazos County. RSVP f agrees to provide to Brazos County for the total sum of $2,000.00 i annually the following services: A. Volunteer assistance to all residents of Brazos ij County with tax preparations. i B. Volunteers assisting where needed in the schools. C. Senior Volunteers serving as active members of the ,County Extension Aging Committee. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner • • Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to enter into contract with RSVP for the services listed above and the payment of $2,000.00 annually. A copy of the contract is attached hereto. Vermeer Sales of Texas 1 $17,230.40 Holland Winder, Engineer, recommended acceptance of the bid submitted by the second -low bidder, Industrial Disposal Supply, because the low bid did not meet the bid specifications. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the Engineer and award the contract Industrial Disposal Supply. 1 i J On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner i Iwilcox, the•Court voted unanimously to extend the Annual Bridge Repair Contract until August 31, 1989 because the work currently lin progress will be completed on or before August 23, 1989. { On motion by Commissioner Norton, seconded by Commissioner jISims, the Court voted unanimously to accept the road improvements for maintenance purposes in Country Meadow Subdivision. The Court acknowledged receipt of the Extension Service ,reports for June 1989 and acknowledged receipt of reports from County and Precinct Offices showing revenues collected and remitted to the County Treasurer. All payments will be payable to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and mailed to their current address. I • II RSVP agrees to provide the service to its program to the Volunteer Station. There is not established any definite program of assignments. But, the number of volunteers and assignments can be changed throughout the term of this contract by agreement of all parties. RSVP does agree to make every effort to arrange for the number of volunteers and assignments which are being performed or contemplated at the time of this agreement. A. Volunteer assistance to all residents of Brazos County with tax preparations. B. Volunteers assisting where needed in the schools. C. Senior Volunteers serving as active members of the County Extension Aging Committee. D. Senior Volunteers assisting at the Bryan Library. E. Senior Volunteers assisting with youth activities. F. Senior Volunteers assisting with commodities distribution throughout the community. G. Senior Volunteers assisting with clerical needs. The terms of this contract will be January 1, 1989 to December 31, 1989. III Any invention of literacy or artistic production arising out an assignment shall be the exclusive property of the Volunteer Station, and the Volunteer shall have the right to produce additional copies and distribute to the general public. Volunteer Station may consent to other uses by the Volunteer. IV Volunteers shall comply with all the rules and standards exercised by the employees in the department to which she or he is assigned. y VO L / PAGE W w a- r f i .r •4 • l s, 4 ATTEST: M i0otCh/LI County er ~I VO PAGE y93 The County Judge or his delegate shall have the authority to represent the Volunteer Station and to make whatever further /'agreements V necessary to administer and effectuate the terms and conditions set for herein. VI The Volunteers will not receive any pay from the Volunteer Station for their services, and they will not be considered an employee and this service will be considered as a voluntary contribution to the betterment of the community and the public purpose of the County. VII Since the Volunteer is not a part to this agreement, Volunteer Station may require Volunteers who accept service to sign other instruments setting forth other terms and conditions between the Volunteer Station to amend or rescind this contract by mutual agreement.
