SPECIAL MEETING
JULY 3, 1989
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
,ICourthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 2:00
1:1 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 1989, with the following members of the
I~Court present:
R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding;
Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.

The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

The Court met to consider amending the Brazos County Events

•jFacilities Policies and Procedures for the Rodeo Arena and
(;Pavilion. Commissioner Sims explained that neighbors of the
,,Tabor Road facility complained of noise pollution. Mrs. Dozier,
;!Director of the facility, told the Court that at least twice a
~:year there were events at the Pavilion that had greatly amplified
. I
music. This carries all over the nearby residential
;neighborhood. Noise is a big problem so much so that complaints
,were heard from the Mayor of the City of Bryan. After
('considerable discussion, Commissioner Norton made the motion
('saying that because of the location of the Rodeo Arena. arid
,Pavilion amplified musical instruments will not be allowed in the
!i
j'facilities. Commissioner Turner seconded the motion and it
carried unanimously.
I~ There being no further business to come before the Court,
lithe meeting was adjourned.
ii The County Judge opened the meeting again at 2:15 p.m. and
.asked if the Court would like to designate a time when music can
!hot be played at the Rodeo Arena and Pavilion. Commissioner

Norton amended his motion to state that there would be no
!amplified music in the Pavilion and no amplified music in the I '
f
'Rodeo Arena after 10:30 p.m. Commissioner Turner seconded the f
amended motion and it carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Court,
the meeting was adjourned.
