On motion b y Commis- sioner Turner, seconded by Comm issioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the Purchasing Agent and award the contract as indicated above. The Court next considered a request from Fred Deit sch. Mr. iDietsch addressed the Court on the matter of the rail along the (sidewalk on 26th Street between Texas Avenue and Washington Street at the Courthouse/Church parking lot. He stated the rail ldid not accomplish the purpose intended then suggested making an opening in the rail to allow pedestrians to cross 26th Street in I the middle of the block between Texas Ave nue and W ashington Street. It was the consensus of the Court to request the City of (Bryan conduct a pedestrian and traffic study of the 26th and (Washington streets and make recommenda tions concerning crosswalks and the rail placement. The County Judge thanked Mr. Deitsch for his information. voL~L-PAG It, 4 Commissioner Wilcox explained to the Court that the roof at the County Shop on Highway 21 West was leaking. He went on to say that the estimated cost to repair it would be between $2.30 to $2.90 a square foot. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Norton, the Court voted unanimously to have ;Commissioner Wilcox write the specifications and solicit bids for lithe repair work. 11 i! On motion by the County Judge, seconded by Commissioner i IlSims, the Court voted unanimously to approve and authorize the ,,County Judge to enter into contract with the Texas Department of ;Human Services for the distribution of $14,772.00 in grant funds `;for summer cooling assistance to those low income or medically ~i ~ ;needy households. The Brazos Valley Development Council will ;,administer the grant for Brazos County. The Court proceeded to consider the change of status of the '~following employees.
