A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the '

jiCourthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 1:30
Iip.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 1989, with the following members of

Il{{the Court present:
ii R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding;
Gary Norton, Commissioner of Precinct 1, Absent; '
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 21
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.

The Commissioners' Court met to take action on the purchase
Ilof property for a minimum security jail. Said property is {

Pocated between Sandy Point Road and Highway 21 West. {
II The County Judge informed those in attendance that it was l

lithe intention of the Court to purchase the land for a minimum
i'security jail, to use the remaining acreage for a fair ground and `
to move the rodeo area and build a pavilion on the site.
' The County Judge then asked those in attendance if there
i

were any comments. Mrs. Catalena did not feel that a fair would
materialize saying it had never worked before. Mrs. Catalena
fI
itnentioned Sheriff Miller's quote in the paper where he indicated
:1 the minimum security facility could eventually become a maximum
(I'security Jail. She asked for the Courts' assurance that this
I1rould not happen in the near future. The County Judge assured
`
Irs. Catalena that it would not happen while he was in office.

There being no further discussion, on motion by Commissioner
'Sims, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted
`unanimously to purchase the tract of and presently owned by the

corporate entity known as The Answer is Jesus Christ, inc., for
the purchase price of $106,200.00, plus accrued interest and
unpaid ad valorem taxes due on the property. Said purchase is
conditioned upon the purchase price being acceptable to the
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the title being
acceptable and insured by Lawyers Title Company of Brazos County,
assuring that there are no outstanding liens on said property.
There being no further business to come before the Court,
the meeting was adjourned.
