Adjourn I . • r COMMISSIONERS' COURT I^ SPECIAL MEETING DECEMBER 19,•1988 is • A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 I la.m. on Monday, December 19, 1988, with the following members of the Court present: ' R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4: Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. On motion Iby Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to approve the minutes as submitted. The Court next considered renewal of the lease agreement for office space for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5. On motion by `Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court ivoted unanimously to continue with the present lease agreement until January 1, 1989. Effective January 11 1989, the lease would be amended to make the county responsible for the utilities I and the lease of space would be reduced to $300 per month. 'The next matter for consideration by the Court was the (change in operation at the landfill. Commissioner Cooley stated Awb ~ I .I VOL 1 Commissioners' Court meeting December 19, 1988 1 that the landfill virtually ran itself but that sometime in the near future someone would have to make certain decisions t (concerning the operation of the facility. Commissioner Beard (moved to assign responsibility for the landfill to County I'Engineer, Holland Winder. The motion was seconaea by commis- 1Isioner Turner and carried unanimously. Commissioner Wilcox asked '!how long Mr. Winder would oversee the facility, whereupon the i I;County Judge informed him until the new Court decides a change is i .necessary. ~i The Court next considered approval of the final resub- ;division plat of Lot 7 Block 2, Rainbow Acres Subdivision in !Iprecinct 3. It was explained to the Court that the developer had Ilsubdivided a five acre tract into two tracts. on motion by ,I ;-Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court {voted unanimously to grant a variance and approve the final re- subdivision plat of Lot 7 Block 2, Rainbow Acres Subdivision in Precinct 3. The Court next considered the transfer of four vehicles from i~ the Sheriff's Department to the departments of the County li ;Attorney, District Attorney and Constable Precinct 7. County (;Attorney, Jim Kuboviak, speaking for himself and for the ,Constable of Precinct 7 asked the court to consider suggesting to ' ;the Sheriff the possibility of trading the vehicles sooner while ('they had low mileage. Mr. Kuboviak asked that the Court transfer i I ;two vehicles to his department and one to Constable Pittman. "Commissioner Cooley suggested that the District Attorney be given I I;a new car. on motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by i (!Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to place on the (Commissioners' Court agenda the advertisement for a bid for a new Ilvehicle for the District Attorney. After some discussion and on motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court voted unanimously to transfer to the departments of the County Attorney and Constable Precinct 7 the four vehicles I currently available from the Sheriff's Department. Mr. Kuboviak continued by asking the Court for direction on the repair of the PA E - t i. • • • I Commissioners' Court meeting December 19, 1988 vehicle that needs a new motor. It was the consensus of the Court to repair the car with a short block engine. The Court continued with the consideration of the purchase of a video camera for the County Attorney's office. This-was !necessitated because the original camera purchased for use was a (prototype and parts are no longer available for replacement. Mr. Kuboviak proposed taking the mobil unit and mounting it as a stationary unit and purchasing another mobil unit with remote control. All this could be accomplished for $1,200.00. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, j the Court voted unanimously to approve the request of the County Attorney, and approve the purchase of a mobil video recorder with remote control. The Court proceeded to consider the change of status of the j following employees.
