COMMISSIONERS' COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
AUGUST 22, 1988
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, -Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00
9.m. on Monday, August 22, 1988, with the following members of,
the Court present:

The Court first considered the request by Wixon Water
Supply to install a water line across Dilly Shaw Tap Road in
Precinct 2. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by
Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to approve the
request of Wixon Water Supply and authorized the installation. A
copy of the request is attached hereto.
On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court received, approved and ordered filed as
submitted the Treasurer's report for July 1988.
The Court next considered a Court order from the Distric
Judges increasing the salary of the first assistant auditor to
$23,512.00. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by the
County Judge, the Court voted unanimously to acknowledge receipC~
the order and increase',the salary of the first assistant auditor t¢

$23,512.00 commencing with the next pay period following August
18, 1988. A copy of the order is attached hereto. f
The next matter before the Court was a request from Hammond
Termite & Pest Control the low bidder on Bid Request No. 88-455,'
asking that section D specification 5b, General Liability, be
reduced from $1,000,000 to $500,000 because their
present
insurance company will not insure for more that $500,000= that
section Sc, Automotive Liability, be reduced from $500,000 to
$100,000. The company stated that $50.00 per month would have to
be added to the bid if the amount of insurance coverage could not
ibe reduced. It was the recommendation of the Purchasing Agent to
(award the Contract to the next lowest bidder, Quality Pest stating
+Ithat the bid could not be changed after the contract had been
I1awarded. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by
IlCommissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to accept the
('recommendation of the Purchasing Agent and award the contract to
Quality Pest Control.

Turner the Court voted unanimously to approve the Claims a
(submitted. •

The County Judge recognized Mr. Rodger Lewis, Chairman of the
local Republican Party, who suggested that branch absentee polling
places be set up at Texas A&M University and at Post Oak Mall. He I
i
asked that the Court consider these two locations and place the
matter on the agenda of the next Commissioners' Court meeting.
i
At 10:15 a.m. the County Judge announced the meeting closed
to the public so that the Court could meet in closed executive
!session to discuss personnel and land acquisition.
At 10:48 a.m. the County Judge announced the meeting open to
the public and announced that no action would be taken on land
I
acquisition.
On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner'
(Turner, the Court voted unanimously to create the position of
iEngineering Assistant III in the Road and Bridge Department and
Ithat the salary for the position be classified in Pay Group 16.

There being no further business to come before the Court, the'
(meeting was adjourned.

NOTICE OF PkOPOSED INSTALLATION IN COUNTY RIGkT-OF-WAY
To The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas

Formal notice is hereby given that Wixon Water Su 1 Corp., Applicant,
proposes to place a water line crossing within teright-of-way
of billy Shaw Tap Road in Brazos County, Texas as follows:
--x Road crossing only.
Installation parlleling the roadway a distance of feet.
The location or description of the proposed installation is more fully
shown by 2 copies of the drawings attached to this notice.
I understand and agree that:
1. The Commissioner of the Precinct in which the right-of-way lies must
be notified prior to the beginning of construction in order that
the Commissioner might be on hand to designate the actual location
of the installation.

2. That all damage to the roadways and rights-of=way will be repaired
to their original condition to the satisfaction of the Commissioner
in which the roadway or right-of-way lies.
3. That BRAZOS COUNTY reserves the right to require Applicant to re-
locate or lower any such line at no cost to BRAZOS COUNTY, should
same become necessary due to widening or lowering, or other alter-
ation of the roadway or right-of-way.
4. That BRAZOS COUNTY is in no way responsible for any damage that migt
occur to any existing utility lines in the right-of-way.
5. That the line will be constructed and maintained on the county right
of-way in accordance with governing laws.
6. That the line or lines will be constructed no less than forty-eight
inches (48") lower than the lowest part of the drainage or bar ditct
and the drainage is to be considered at least two feet (21) below
the center of the roadway.
7. That all roads be bored to forty feet (40') on either side of the
centerline of the-right-of-way or cased for such distance.
8. That all sites will be barracaded during construction period.
9. That the normal charge established by•the Commissioners' Court is
$500 per crossing and/or $25 minimum per rod when paralleling the
roadway.
Construction of this line will begin on or after the 23rd day of
August , 1988

ORDER OF DISTRICT COURTS SETTING SALARY OF THE
BRAZOS COUNTY AUDITOR AND ASSISTANTS
The undersigned District Judges of Brazos County hereby set
the annual salary of the Brazos County Auditor and auditor
assistants for 1989 at the amounts presently fixed for 1988.
Provided, if the Commissioners Court of Brazos County grants a
salary increase to county employees generally, the auditor and
auditor assistants' salaries shall be increased by the same
percentage received by other county employees generally.
Further provided, that the 1988 salary of Rosalie Todaro,
assistant auditor, shall be increased to $23,512, effective
with the pay period next following the date of this order.
The District Clerk shall file this order in the minutes of
the District Courts and certify a copy of this order to the
Commissioners Court of Brazos County for its observance.
The Commissioners Court shall cause this order to be
recorded in its minutes.
