had made visitations to five jail facilities and that he had
I
determined that the new facility would have to be tailored to the
specific needs of this area. Those needs being a site of
approximately 20 to 25 acres of flat, well drained land on a
major traffic artery, support facilities for a future jail
population of 336 inmates and five pods accommodating 120 inmates

,!its efforts to locate a suitable site for the facility. The
i
;Sheriff indicated that the old county shop site was unsuitable
.'due to the proximity of nearby housing subdivisions. Commis-
,I
• ;,sioner Wilcox asked the Sheriff if someone in his department
'would be willing to help locate a site whereupon the Sheriff
;.replied only if someone from the Court looked with him.
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner

Wilcox, the Court unanimously approved the adoption of a
resolution in support of the State Department of Highways and
Public Transportation to provide funding for the study, planning,
;engineering and construction of a thoroughfare linking the
central Texas cities between northwest Houston and Waco with the
;Dallas Metroplex and further resolved that the Brazos County
Commissioners' Court would assist and help in every way possible
to insure that the community gives full support to the endeavor.
The Court next considered the request by Wixon Water Supply
