J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. Pct. 3 Linda Ricketson American Red Cross The Court recognized Mr. Ernie Wentrcek, Director of Juvenile Services. Mr. Wentrcek requested approval for out of state travel plus expenses to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for Joyce Sneed to attend a National Volunteer Workshop. A portion of the expenses would be paid from grant funds. Mr. Wentrcek requested the County pay the remainder. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to approve the request for out of state travel expenses for Joyce Sneed. The Court next considered approval of the minutes of the Commissioners' Court meetings held January 11, 1988, January 19, 1988, January 25, 1988 and February 1, 1988. The Court next considered Budget Amendment #3, which would reallocate funds budgeted for the Non-Departmental Department, .ncrease the department budget of the office of Constable 'recinct 7 by $325 and increase the budget of the Environmental ?rotection Department by $30,000 which was inadvertently omitted °rom the budget. Commissioner Beard moved for approval of the Budget amendment; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley. :ommissioners Beard Cooley and Turner voted "Aye". Commissioner lilcox voted "No", whereupon the County Judge declared the motion :arried. A copy of such amendment is attached hereto. The County Judge read aloud a Proclamation proclaiming the leek of March 1 through 5, 1988 as "Health Awareness Week% The :ourt joins with the local Red Cross Chapter to promote health ind safety awareness in the community and to make our community pore health conscious and safety independent. On motion by :ommissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner the Court roved to proclaim the week of March 1 through 5, 1988 as 'Health kwareness Week" throughout Brazos County. The County Judge then Dresented the signed Proclamation to Ms Linda Ricketson, representing the local Red Cross Chapter. At 10:13 a.m. the County Judge announced the meeting closed to the public so that the Court could meet in closed executive session to discuss personnel. At 10:48 a.m. the County Judge announced the meeting open tc the public. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to approve the request of the District Attorney for vacation time for Kim Buxbaum. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded By Commissioner Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to approve the request of thel County Attorney for paid vacation time for Kevin Morgan, who, because of impending resignation had been asked not to take vacation so that he might train his replacement. There being no further business to come before the Court, the meeting was recessed until 1:00 p.m. so that the Court could meet in closed executive session to discuss real estate. 1:00 P.M. February 22, 1988 The County Judge reconvened the Commissioners' Court meeting at 1:00 p.m. and then closed it to the public so that the Court might meet in closed executive session to discuss real estate. A* J, i Commissioners' Court meeting February 22, 1988 i • At 1:32 p.m. the County Judge opened the meeting to the public and on motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to enter into contract for the purchase of the Safeway Building at the corner of Texas Avenue and ' 25th Street and authorized the County Judge to forward the Earnest Money to Safeway, Inc. The County Judge announced that the sale of the property should close by March 4, 1988. Beard, Commissioner, Precinct 31 Milton Turner, Commissioner, Precinct 4; -The following proceedings were held: THAT WHEREAS, on February 22, 1988, the Court heard and approved a budget amendment for the 1988 budget year for Brazos County, Texas. WHEREAS, an emergency expenditure is necessary due to grave public necessity to meet unusual and unforeseen conditions which could not be reasonably included in the original budget adopted October 20, 1987, the following amendment(s) to the original are hereby authorized, as described on the attached 1 page(s).
