Adjourn , t t f Il i 6 VO PAGE •J ~ I r` , ~a~c~wm~-SrFe,~cTmrr t •~-r-~--rr~--r4r~~+r-~7[-r-__~L__ ~.ra. ~y ~-+r~-*- - t 1 COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 30. 1987 A spacial meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 1:30P.M. on Monday, September 30, 1987, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1,; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2,; Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Absent; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Ruth McLeod Administrative Assistant Carol Snedeker Admin. Asst. to County Judge Bea Green Secretary to Commissioners Travis Nelson District Clerk Buddy Winn Tax Assessor/Collector Ronnie Crocker Bryan/College Station Eagle Alice Brown KBTX-TV Kathy Young KBTX-TV The Court proceeded to levy taxes for the year 1987 against all property in Brazos County, Texas according to the following schedule: General Fund $.2972 Road b Bridge .0550 TOTAL MAINTENANCE b OPERATIONS FUNDS $.3522 Permanent Improvement Debt Service $.0456 Cert. of Obligation $•0192 TOTAL INTEREST b SINKING FUNDS $.0648 TOTAL TAX RATE FOR 1987 $•4170 Per $100 Valuation The County Judge announced this to be the same tax rate as published by the Tax Assessor Collector as the Effectvive Tax Rate for 1987. He also stated that the rate did not involve the county sales tax rate which would go into effect on January 1, 1968. The tax rate set today would be used as operating capital V0 7' -.P } r Commissioners Court meeting September 30, 1987 a only. The sales tax collected by the county in 1988 would require the advalorum taxes to be reduced by a like amount for I the next budget year. Commissioner Cooley inquired if the rate reflected the 4% increase for salaries plus the 1.25% increase for merit raises. The County Judge stated that, yes it did reflect the 4% increase for salaries and the merit raises must be given in 4% increments. Commissioner Turner moved to set the tax rate for 1987 at $.4170 per $100 valuation to be assessed against all i I real property in Brazos County, Commissioner Wilcox seconded the motion. Commissioners Wilcox, Turner and the County Judge I i voted "Aye". Commissioner Cooley voted "No", whereupon the , County Judge declared the motion had carried. { 1 i Thera being no further business to come before the Court, i _ the meeting was adjourned.
