Other Business Closed Executive Session to discuss real state. r~ A i i S VO PAGE o u • t COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING MAY 26, 1987 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 1987, with the following members of the i Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; ! Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Billy E. Vance Vance, Bruchez, & Goss ' i The first matter to come before the Court was a request by f Judge Tommy Lyons to address the Court on the subject of the I boundary lines of the rural Justices of Peace in Precincts 1 and i 2. It seems that some Department of Public Safety Officers are I confused about the exact location of the boundary lines, specifically on FM 2154. Judge Lyons requested the Court to ask the Highway Department to sign the Boggy Creek area. The County Judge appointed Commissioner Cooley to contact the Highway Department and request them to install the appropriate signs. ! On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to follow the recommendation of the Purchasing Agent and award the contract to Sysco Food Service with Readfield Meat & Freezer Service as the alternate. Bid No. 87-366 - Groceries and Staples for June & July for Jail Rebecca Shults, Purchasing Agent recommended awarding the contract to Sysco Food Service, being the total low dollar value bid, but was the highest of the low bid items. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to follow the recommendation of the Purchasing Agent and award the contract to Sysco Food Service. Under other business the County Judge laid before the Court the matter of the parking lot at the corner of Washington and 26th Streets. The County Judge asked the Court if they were interested in getting an estimate on the demolition of the i building and the removal of the debris. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Beard the Court voted unanimously to investigate the cost of the work. The next matter to be brought before the Court was a problem on Smetana Road. The Precinct 4 Volunteer Fire Department requested that the driveway from the County Road to where they park the firefighting equipment be maintained by the County. The section of driveway in question had been torn up due to the equipment usage. It was determined by the County Engineer that the section of driveway was on private property and therefore could not be maintained at County expense. At 11:07 a.m. the County Judge opened the meeting to the 1 I public and stated no action was to be taken on the executive session. There being no further business to come before the Court, the meeting was adjourned.
