APRIL 27, 1987 j A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 27, 1987, with the following members of i!the Court present: II R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, Presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct l; 1 Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. i I i i The following citizens and officials were in attendance: • .Carol Snedeker County Judge's Admin. Leader for 4-H Club Diane Mills Brazos Beautiful, Inc. 1 i The first matter to come before the Court was a Resolution declaring April 26 through May 2, 1987 as "Keep Brazos Beautiful i Week" in support of Brazos County 4-Hers for their contributions i to the beautification of Brazos County. The County Judge ! recognized Monty Dozier and Betsy Harkey, Brazos County , Extension Agents, who in turn, introduced three 4-H ambassadors to the Court; Brenda Mauk representing the New Beginnings Club, Steven Piraino representing the Thumpers and Jumpers Club and Marcille Rooney representing the Steep Hollow 4-H Club. Steven Piraino explained to the Court that the ambassadors strived to VO L -r PAG E ~S-? v R Commissioners' Court meeting April 27, 1987 present the positive nature of 4-H. The young people had been planting trees and wild flowers around Brazos County in an effort to educate others about litter and environmental improvement. The County Judge thanked the 4-H ambassadors for all their fine work. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to adopt the Resolution and presented a signed copy of it to Diane Mills, President of Brazos Beautiful, Inc. AGi E •4 ,s F N •f Y 1 r . • Commissioners' Court meeting April 27, 1987 The Judge laid before the Court an estimate from Jack Cumpton and Associates, Inc. of the cost of enclosing the new Family Violence Unit in the area behind the County Attorney's office. The estimate of $5,270 was based on work being done in- house. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to instruct Mr. Ed Dobbins, head of Maintenance to start the work.
