The Court received, considered and approved reports from County and Precinct Officers showing revenues collected and remitted to the County Treasurer. An excerpt from those reports is attached hereto. The first item on the agenda was to canvass the results of the Genereal Election and Constitutional Amendments Election held November 4, 1986. The County Judge read aloud the cumulative county-wide totals prepared by the central counting station, together with the write-in votes tabulated therewith. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to accept as true the cumulative county-wide totals together with the write in votes tabulated therewith and ordered the results certified to the Secretary of State of the State of Texas and recorded in the Official Election Records of Brazos County. Next to be considered was a proposal from Merl Smith, Constable of Precinct 3 for authorization to appoint Howard Hill Deputy constable for Precinct 3. Commissioner Beard moved to delay action on the request and to make no further appointments of Deputy Constables until such time as an offical job description has been written and approved. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously. The contract for collection of delinguent taxes was next discussed. The County Judge moved to delay action on the contract until such time as representatives from all other taxing entities could meet and discuss proposals from the various companies interested in contracting for the service and make their recommendations to the Court. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox and carried unanimously. Next to be considered was budget amendment No. 19 to the 1986 County Budget for the Road and Bridge No. 2 budget and to the budget. for Constable of Precinct 4. The Court proceeded to consider the following bids: 1. Bid No. 302 - Truck Chassis, Distributor, and Storage Tanks for the Road & Bridge Department The County Engineer asked that this bid be considered in two parts. First the complete truck with distributor, second the asphalt storage tank. a. Bituminous Pressure Distributor mounted on heavy duty tilt cab truck. Price 1. R. B. Commissioners' Court Meeting, November 10, 1986, continued... is • • Under other business, Chris Kling addressed the Court regarding the problems experienced in the General Election held November 4th. Mr. Kling condemned the entire election process in Brazos County from beginning to end, the officials responsible for the elections and the manner in which the officials conducted elections. The County Judge reported that a committee would be appointed to study the process and make recommendations for any changes.
