COMMISSIONERS' COURT
PUBLIC HEARING
OCTOBER 27, 1986
The Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, met at 1:00
P.m. on Monday, October 27, 1986, in the Commissioners' Courtroom in
the Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, for the purpose of holding a public
hearing on the proposed Brazos County Budget for 1987. The
following members of the Court present:
R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presidingi
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 11
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

The County Judge announced the public hearing on the county
budget open and the Court proceeded to reveiw the budget by
departments.
The County Judge laid before the Court the following increases
to the budgets
1. Commissioners' Court - increase of $4,7C4 to accomodate
the increase in hours worked by the secretary in that
department.
2. Sheriff's Department - increase of $2,500 to accomodate
the cost of telephone service for the jail inmates.
3. Health Department - increase of $6,305 due to clerical
error.
The Court proceeded through the General Fund budget by
department with no other changes required.

The Court discussed the renewal of the lease for office space
for Justices of the Peace for Precinct 7, Place 1 and 2. It was the

The County Judge next asked for comments from the audience.

requested that funding not be cut for MHMR or Health Services such

as prenatal care and crisis transporation services.
There being no further comments on the General Fund Budget,
Judge Holmgreen moved that the General Fund Budget be approved to
include the above mentioned increases. The motion was seconded by
Commissioner Beard with the County Judge, Commissioners Wilcox,
I Beard and Turner voting "Aye" and Commissioner Cooley voting "No",

whereupon the County Judge announced the motion carried and the
General Fund Budget be adopted and followed by all departments
thoughout the year.
The Court proceeded to consider the Road and Bridge Budget as
well as budgets for other funds contained in the budget. There
being no other amendments, Commissioner Beard moved for the approval
of the Brazos County Budget for 1987. The motion was seconded by
Commissioner Turner with the County Judge, Commissioners Wilcox,
Beard and Turner voting "Aye" Commissioner Cooley voting "No",
whereupon the County Judge announced the 1987 Budget for Brazos
County approved and is to be followed by all departments throughout
the year. The County Judge announced the public hearing on the
County Budget closed.
The meeting continued with the County Judge announcing the
Public Hearing on the 1987 proposed budget for Revenue Sharing funds
open to the public and asked for comments from the audience.
Receiving no comments from the public or from the Court, the
Public Hearing on the Revenue Sharing Budget was closed.

Commissioner Beard moved to approve the Revenue Sharing Budget
as presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Turner and
carried unanimously.
j The County Judge ordered the County Budget for 1987 be filed
in the office of the County Clerk all in accordance with the law.
There being no further business to come before the Court the `

meeting was adjourned.
