COMMISSIONERS' COURT REGULAR MEETING MAY 12, 1986 A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 1986, with the following members of the Court present: i R. Fritz, County Extension Agent; Mable Walker, County Extension Agent; Kathleen M. Barnett, County Extension Agent. The Court received, considered and approved reports from County and Precinct Officers showing revenue collected,and re- mitted to the County Treasurer. A copy of the reports are ,j. attached hereto. Vol _PAGE yy° I - Jim Mazurkiewicz reported on the fire ant program for Brazos County. The program was well received by the public with 450 individuals taking advantage of the program. An order for 9,804 pounds of Amdro was placed. The Court asked if the County Agent was still receiving calls and if the pro- gram could be reopened and additional bait ordered. Mr. Mazurkiewicz assured the Court.that additional bait could be ordered in pallet size lots. It was the consensus of the, Court that the County Agent should continue to take orders and determine if sufficient orders were placed to warrant the county placing another order. The Court next considered a request from Winfred Pittman, Constable of Precinct 7 for authorization to appoint Jimmy Wayne Vargas as Reserve Deputy Constable. Mr. Pittman advised the Court that he currently had a total of 14 Reserve Deputies. j On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to authorize the appointment of Jimmy Wayne Vargas as a Reserve Deputy Constable for Precinct 7. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to award a joint contract to Farm and Ranch Lumber and Hardware and the alternate bid to Young Equipment Company, Inc. t Next to be considered were the following amendments to the 1986 budget: ` 1. Road and Bridge No. 2 - Increase of $77,000 due to clerical error in preparing the annual budget. Transfer of $7,305 from the Personnel Department to Commissioners Court for salary and fringes for a sec- retary for Commissioners and incidentals for setting up the office., Commissioner Cooley moved to approve the amendment. The motion was seconded by•Commissio-' ner Beard with Commissioners Cooley, Beard and Turner voting "Aye". Commissioner Wilcox voted "No", where- upon the County Judge announced the motion carried. A full copy of both amendments are attached hereto., - The Court next considered the following requests for in- stallation in county-rights-of-way: ' 1. Wixon Water Supply Corporation requested authorization to install a one inch (1") PVC encased water pipeline within the right-of-way of Andert Road in Precinct 3. 2. Wixon Water Supply Corporation proposes to install a one inch (1") PVC encased water pipeline within the right-of-way of Alexander Road in Precinct 3. On mo- tion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Beard the Court voted unanimously to approve both applications. A full copy of each application is at-/ tached hereto. Under other business, the Court heard a request from Sharon Scurlock and Nancy Fink, representing National Family Life, for authorization to present their supplemental insurance coverage for heart attack/cancer/stroke and intensive care. They also ask- ed if it would be possible to have the premium payroll deducted.
