Other Business 0 -9 7 S . d VOL a COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING JANUARY 6, 1986 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 6, 1986, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding: Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: W. B. Davis Treasurer Kerly Sekera League of Women Voters Chuck R. Clements WTAW/KTAW Sharon Fairchild Auditor David Nunnelee The Eagle Mike George KBTX Carol Snedeker County Judge's Secy. Ruth McLeod Admin. Asst. The Court first considered acceptance of 1.85 acre tract of land in the R. Carter League, Abstract 8 from Wheeler Ridge Asso- ciation. The property is located adjacent to the Brazos Center Park. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to accept the property and ordered the Deed recorded in the Official Records of the County Clerk's Office. A copy of the Deed is attached. The Court next considered a request from the Brazos County Historical Commission for an increase in their 1986 Budget by $960. The increase would accomodate additional expenses expected due to the observation of the Sesquicentennial. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to approve the increase and to amend the 1986 Budget accordingly. 1 J t The Court proceeded to consider a change to the contract of Utley James of Texas, Inc. for Modifications and Additions to Brazos County Courthouse in the amount of $14,028.00. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to approve Change Order No. 18 in the amount of $14,028. A copy of the Change Order is attached to and made a part of these minutes. w The meeting continued with the Court considering a contract with R.E.C. Industries, Inc. for replacement of existing jail plumbing in the Courthouse. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to enter into the contract and authorized the County Judge to ex- ecute the contract. The County Judge laid before the Court a proposal to pur- chase an extra roll of carpet containing 202 yards at a cost of $18.00 per yard. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to purchase the carpet. The Court proceeded to consider changes in status of employ- ees, effective January 1, 1986 in accordance with the 1986 Budget. The salaries on the changes reflect a one step increase over the 1985 salary for all employees who had not received a raise in the past six months; new employees either replacing terminated employ- ees or filling newly created positions; terminated employees; changes in car allowances; and two promotions, 1 Assistant District Attorney and the Receptionist/Switchboard supervisor. On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to approve the changes as submitted. Commissioner Wilcox at this time requested that the Personnel Policy be placed on the Commissioners Court agenda for the next meeting to be discussed. Claims were approved as per the following page.
