SPECIAL MEETING
JULY 22, 1985
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00
A.M. on Monday, July 22, 1985, with the following members of
the Court present:
R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge - Absent
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct - Presiding
Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

The first matter to be considered was appointments to the
Board of Directors of the Brazos Valley Development Council.
I
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner,
the Court voted unanimously to reappoint Ples Turner and Anderson
Jones for three year terms ending September 30, 1988.
Next to be considered were appointments to the Board of Dir-
ectors of the Mental Health Mental Retardation. On motion by
Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court
voted unanimously to reappoint Mrs. Candice Leslie, Mrs. Marcie
Clark and County Judge R. J. Holmgreen.
The Court next considered a petition from the residents of
"Marion Street" in the Woodlands subdivision requesting a name

Inge of the street to "Cedar Ridge Drive." On motion by
Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court
voted unanimously to change the name of the street from Marion
Street to Cedar Ridge Drive.
Next to be considered was a request from Bluebonnet Gat-
hering for authorization to install a six inch natural gas pipe-
line across the right-of-way of Steele Store Road in Precinct 4.
On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Cooley,
the Court voted unanimously to grant the request and authorized
the installation of the pipeline. A full copy of the application
is attached.
The Court proceeded to consider the following bids:
1. Bid No. 227 - Video Camera for MPO.
a.) Video Systems, Inc. JVC GXS-70OU - $2,013.00
b.) Gray Electronic,Inc. Panasonic WV6000 - $2,944.50
c.) Digitron Security Corp. No Bid
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner,
the Court voted unanimously to accept the low bid of Video Sys-
tems, Inc. in the amount of $2,013.00.
2. Bid No. 222 - Annual Sign Contract for various signs
for Road & Bridge Department.
a.) Roadrunner Traffic Supply - No Bid
b.) P.B.S., Inc. - $728.25 - total for 29 different
signs based on unit price
c.) Vulcan Signs - $978.10 - total for 29 different
signs based on unit price
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner,
the Court voted unanimously to award the annual sign contract to
P.B.S.,Inc.
3. Bid No. 225 - Annual Contract for Pest Control of the
County Buildings.
- a.) Quality Pest Control - $3,420.00
b.) Binford Insect Control Service - 4,380.00
c.) Orkin Exterminating Company - 4,428.00
d.)-Hammond Termite & Pest.-Control - 4,500.00
e.) Orkin Exterminating Company - 4,560.00
f.) Herwald Pest Control, Inc. - 5,940.00
g.) Becker Termite & Pest Control - 5,976.00
Ed Dobbins, Superintendent of Maintenance recommended Orkin Ex-
terminating Company, whereupon Commissioner Beard moved !to award

in Brazos County, Texas as follows:
The location or description of the proposed installation is more fully shown
by three copies of the drawings attached to this notice.
(Applicant) Bt uebo nnet Gat hen.cng , understand and agree that:
1. The County Engineer must be notified prior to the beginning of
construction in order that they might be on hand to designate the actual
location of the installation.
2. That all damage to the roadways and rights-of-way will be repaired to
their original condition to the satisfaction of the County Engineer,
3. That BRAZOS COUNTY reserves the right to require Applicant to
relocate or lower any such line at no cost to BRAZOS COUNTY, should same
become necessary due to widening or lowering, or other alteration of the
roadway or right-of-way.
4. That BRAZOS COUNTY is in no way responsible for any damage that might
occur to any existing utility lines in the right-of-way.
5. That the line will be constructed and maintained on the county right-
of way in accordance with governing laws.
6. That the line or lines will be constructed no less than forty-eight
inches (48") lower than the lowest part of the drainage or bar ditch and
the drainage is to be considered at least two feet (2') below the center
of the roadway.
7. That all roads be bored to forty feet (40') on either side of the
centerline of the right-of-way or cased for such distance.
8. That all sites will be barracaded during construction period.
9. That the normal charge is $500 per crossing and/or $40 per rod wheA
paralleling the roadway established by the Commissioners' Court on
January 28, 1985.
