He suggested that c a committee be appointed to study the feasability of the program. 1 He suggested that the Committee be composed of representatives r from the State Highway Department, the rural area, the insurance industry and the Commissioners Court. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner the Court voted unanimously ; to appoint a committee prior to the December meeting. The Court next considered a request from Lyons Petroleum,Inc. V for a tax refund in the amount of $4,525.91 presented by the Tax Office. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Cooley the Court voted unanimously to grant the request and autho- k; razed the refund. The Court proceeded to consider the following bids and autho- rize the payment thereof. 1. Under other business Commissioner Cooley announced that the County had received notification that the County Landfill was in total compliance with the State regulations. The Court reconvened at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 16, 1984 with all members of the Court present. Court The first matter to come before the Court was consideration of bid number 171 for two way radios for the Road and Bridge De- partment, that was discussed at the meeting on Monday, November 10th. Commissioner Wilcox moved to award the contract for the purchase of the radios to Motorola Company for a total sum of $21,787.00. Commissioner Cooley seconded the motion, with Com- missioner's Wilcox, Cooley and Turner voting "Aye". Commissioner Beard voted "No". Commissioner Turner moved to pay for the radio's from Bond money, if possible, and if not from Bond funds, then from Revenue Sharing Funds. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox with all members of the Court voting "Aye". The Court proceeded to consider bids for furniture and equip- ment for the Courthouse as follows: Maniord Office Products News Office Supply McCoy, Inc. Inner Space Base Proposal $247,319.25 206,872.41 192,603.46 326,644.52 Alternate A 40,611.78 35,596.88 35,832.06 37,288.35 Further to be considered were requests from other departments r E. for furniture in the amount of $123,278.40. After discussion Com- missioner Beard moved to award the contract to McCoy, Inc. for the total bid price of $228,435.52, plus the additional furniture ' in the amount of $123,278.40 for a total amount of $351,713.92, with monies to be paid out of the Bond Funds. ' (j[1Z_PAG'E A The Court next considered a contract with the State De- partment of Highways and Public Transportation for the installa- tion of an automatic warning system at the Southern Pacific rail- road crossing at Steele Store Road The County's contribution would be $4,200 00 (5% of the total estimated cost of $84,000 00) On motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court voted unanimously to reject the proposal The County Judge next named Commissioner Cooley and Commissio- ner Wilcox as a Committee to gather names for a group to study the feasability of the Flood Insurance Program for Brazos County The Court next discussed the creation of an additional Dis- trict Court and an additional County Court-At-Law for Brazos County Also discussed was to increase the jurisdictional amount in the County Court-At-Law to $50,000 After discussion Commissioner Cooley moved to encourage the Legislature to create an additional District Court and an additional County Court-At-Law for Brazos County and that they become effective as soon as the Commissioners Court could effectively fund both The motion was seconded by the County Judge with all members of the Court voting "Aye" There being no further business to come before the Court the meeting was adjourned 1 1 y ~V VO a .PAGE -Q-l r7 The foregoing minutes have been examined and approved in open Court this the ` 11 day of -7 AA lq , in Bryan. The Commissioner of the Precinct in which the right-of-way lies must be notified prior to the beginning of construction in order that the Commissioner might be on hand to designate the actual location of the installation. 2.
