League of Women Voters League of Women Voters County Clerk's Office The Eagle Sheriff Sheriff's Office Tax Assessor Collector Millican, Texas All members being present, the Court proceeded to set the tax rate for the year 1983, to be applied to the collection of taxes due on October 1, 1983 After discussion, Commissioner Beard moved that the ad-valorum tax rate for all property on the tax rolls of Brazos County, Texas, be set at $ 31 per 100 valuation Motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox All members voted Aye, whereupon the County Judge announced the motion had carried and the tax rate is hereby adopted for the year 1983 and hereby levied against all property in Brazos County, Texas 'i ,a 1 fJ ~ ' , t r9 t 4 , 1 , P 1 } 1 F~ j rr _ VOL, P~GE~~ -N,-;-r (T r aT1t t i* t'~ f 1 • 1 ) r . +-T--•--~- _ Y r t t t ~ ► tf , - / ' 1h The next matter to come before the Court was the considera- tion of amendments to the 1983 budget as follows: 1. Revenue Sharing 2. Court Coordinator 3. County Court at Law 4. Health Department 5. Various County offices to accomodate over expendi- ture of various line items. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Cooley the Court voted unanimously to approve the budget amendments as submitted. A copy of such amendments are attached. The Court next considered the appointment of Christopher C. Mathewson as Engineering Geologist for the proposed expansion of the Millican Landfill. The cost for testing services of the site would be approximately $4,000. After discussion Commissioner Cooley moved that Dr. Mathewson be appointed Engineering Geologist for the project. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Beard and carried unanimously. The Court next considered a request from Ferguson Crossing Pipeline Company for authorization to install a 4 inch gas line in the right-of-way of Dilly Shaw Tap Road in Precinct 2. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Beard the Court voted unanimously to approve the request and authorize the installation. A copy of such request is attached. The County Judge recognized Sandy Tucker, Vice President of the League of Women Voters who presented the Court with a petition concerning the Optional County Road Law and to request that the issue be put on the ballot for the November 8th. Election. Such petitions contain 2,314 names, 1,554 of which have been verified by the Tax Assessor Collector. Ms. Tucker advised that there were 573 names which had not been verified at this date. The Court next considered the request of Tommy Lyons, Justice of Peace of Precinct 1 for a salary increase for 1983. Commissioner Beard moved that the salary request be refused.for 1983. The County Judge presented a request from the Tax Collector for authorization to secure terminals to connect the County Tax Office with the Central Appraisal Office for a total cost of $19,000, this cost to be shared with the City of Bryan and the Bryan Independent School District. After discussion Commissioner Beard moved to approve the request and to approve an amendment to the Revenue Sharing Budget in the amount of $6,500, representing the County's portion of the cost. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox and carried unanimously. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court voted unanimously to approve Change Order Number 6 for modifications and additions to the Brazos County Courthouse in the total amount of $21,511. Such change order was for the re- placement of electric controls servicing air conditioning and heat- ing units, replacement of existing busing and circuit breakers in Panels 9, 10, 11 and 12, furnish and install one envelope locker depository on first floor of jail. A copy of such change order is attached. The Court next discussed voting entitlement for the Appraisal Districts Directors election. The County Judge advised the Court that the County has a total of 1,000 votes or 20% of the total votes. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted unanimously to continue the practice of allocating the County's vote to all candidates. Commissioner Cooley requested that $100,000 be allocated to the Road and Bridge fund and divided equally among the Precincts. Such fund to be taken from the Revenue Sharing Fund or Oil and Gas Revenue. No action was taken on the request. There being no further business the Court recessed until Wed- nesday at 2:00 P.
