COMMISSIONERS' COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
AUGUST 22, 1983
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Lecture Rehearsal Room of the
Brazos Center, 3232 Briarcrest Drive, Bryan, Brazos County,
Texas, beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 22, 1983, with
the following members of the Court present:
R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding:
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Milton Turner, Commissioner of Precinct 4.
The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

The first matter to come before the Court was an amendment
to the 1983 Budget for the County Clerk's Office to accomodate
for additional employee at the entry level. On motion by Comm-
issioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Turner, the Court voted
unanimously to approve the amendment. A copy is attached.
The Court next considered Change of Status for the following
employees:

After discussion Commissioner Beard moved to approve the Status
of E. E. Gordon at an annual salary of $16,624.00. Motion was
seconded by Commissioner Turner and carried unanimously. On mod

the Court voted unanimously to approve all other changes as sub-

The Court next considered the following Claims as submitted
by the County Treasurer for payment

On motion by Commissioner Cooley seconded by Commissioner Turner the
Court voted unanimously to approve the Claims as submitted
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner
Turner the Court voted unanimously to authorize the Commission
to spend the Road and Bridge #2 Funds as they deemed necessary
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to aut'horize the payment of
$32,992 00 to the State Treasurer Account Trust Fund No 927
Such amount representing 20% of the estimated cost of the replace-
ment of Wickson Creek Bridge on Dilly Shaw Tap Road in Precinct 2
The Court retired into executive closed session at 10 15 A M
to discuss personnel and legal matters
The meeting was reopened to the public at 10 45 A M at which
time Commissioner Wilcox moved to authorize W R Vance to initiate
legal proceedings against Scurlock Oil Company for damages to the
Wickson Creek Bridge on Dilly Shaw Tap Road The motion was second-
ed by Commissioner Beard and carried unanimously
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to pay $1,835 97 to Royce M

Bordman Such payment represents an amount agreed to by Comm-
issioner Beard for freezing the sale of a tract of land the Comm-
issioner was interested in for a sanitary landfill in Precinct 3
Monies to be paid out of the Revenue Sharing Fund
It was the consensus of the Court that Commissioner Beard
would consult with the seal coating contractor and obtain a price
for resurfacing of the parking lot at the Brazos Center
There being no further business the court adjourned

THAT WHEREAS, on August 22, , 19 83 the Court heard and approved
a budget amendment or the Bu get year for Brazos County, Texas.
WHEREAS, an emergency expenditure is necessary, due to grave public
necessity to meet unusual and unforseen conditions which could not be
reasonably included in the original budget adopted Nov 30, 1982 ,
the following amendement(s) to the original are hereby authorized
