A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos

County Texas was held in the Lecture Rehearsal Room of the
Brazos Center 3232 Briarcrest Drive Bryan Brazos County
Texas beginning at 10 00 A M on Monday February 14 1983
with the following members of the Court present

The first matter to come before, the Court was the appointment
of two members to the Coulter Field Airport. On motion by Com--
missioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court voted
unanimously to appoint Commissioner Turner and Commissioner Cooley,
as'the County's representatives on the Board.
Next to be considered were the following requests to utilize
I
County right-of-way for installation of transmission lines:
1. Bryan Pipeline proposed to install an oil line across
i the right-of-way of Rabbit Lane in Precinct 4. On
motion by Commissioner Turner, seconded by Commissioner
Beard the Court voted unanimously to grant the request
and to authorize the installation.
i
2. Wixon Water Supply proposed to install a water line in
the rights-of-way of Dilly Shaw Tap Road and Reed Road
in Precinct 2. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, sec-
onded by Commissioner Beard the Court voted unanimously,
to grant the request and 'to authorize the installation
of the water line in both rights-of-way.
A copy of both requests are attached hereto.
The County Judge laid before the Court a letter from the
Texas Justice Court Training Center advising the Court that Judge
Mary C. Horn had successfully completed a forty hour course in r r
the duties of the office of Justice of the Peace as,required by
law.
The Court proceeded to canvass the results of the Special
Election for United States Representative, Districi 6, held
February 12, 1983 as follows:

On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox,
the Court voted unanimously to certify the above as the true and
correct returns of the Special Election for United States Repre-
sentative, District 6, ordered that they be certified and forwarded

ceeded to award the following bids

Sheriff Yeager recommended the acceptance of the Motorola
bid
2 Sheriff s Department - one hea duty window van
(a) Beal Ford Sales Inc ry$10 417 00
(b) Tom Light Chevrolet - $10 811 60
Sheriff Yeager recommended the purchase of the Chevrolet
Van due to engine specifications
3 Sheriff s Department three 4-door sedan vehicles
(a) Allen Oldsmobile/Cadillac/Honda Inc - $31 785 00
(b) Beal Ford Sales Inc _ $28 572 00
(c) Tom Light Chevrolet 28 867 08
Sheriff Yeager recommended the Oldsmobile Delta Royale
from Allen Oldsmobile/Cadillac/Honda Inc being the
only vendor with specifications

Sheriff Yeager recommended the purchase of the Impala
Chevrolet from Tom Light Chevrolet Inc being the only
vendor within specifications
Motion was made by Commissioner Beard to accept the recommendations
of Sheriff Yeager for the above bids and to purchase the necessary
equipment The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox with
Commissioners Beard Wilcox and the County Judge voting Aye Com-
missioners Cooley and Turner abstained The County Judge announced
the motion carried and authorized the purchase
On motion by Commissioner Wilcox seconded by Commissioner

Beard the Court voted unanimously to approve for payment the state-
ment of Utley James in the amount of $293 451 00 for modifications I~a
and additions to the Courthouse I~
The Court next considered a request from Merl Smith Constable

of Precinct 3 for authorization to appoint James Michael Orts and

unanimously to authorize the appointments
The Court next considered a change of scope in the letter of jK

agreement with Martin Slovacek & Thompson for audit services for
Brazos County Such change to increase the cost of services by
$5 000 On motion by Commissioner Wilcox seconded by Commissioner
Turner the Court voted unanimously to change the scope of the audit
and authorize the increase in the amount of the agreement
r Next to be considered were the following Plats
I
1 Preliminary Plat of Gibbs Estate in Precinct 1 After
careful review of the Plat the developer was advised5
to show the additional items on the final Plat ~J

(a) Describe the area referred to as the 'Well Site
(b) Exclude the Well Site from the final plat so z
that there would be no questions at a later date ,
of it becoming a building site
(c) Show crossing for waterlines from the Well Sitei
(d) Designation of 60 foot right of-way
On motion by Commissioner Cooley seconded by Commissioner Wilcox

the Court voted unanimously to approve the Plat subject to the
above referenced additions
A 2 Revised Plat of Quail Run Estates Lots 25 and 26 After
review of the plat and understanding the reason for the
L, revision Commissioner Cooley moved to approve the re-
vised Plat Motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox

On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded.by Commissioner Beard
the Court voted unanimously to approve the claims and authorized
the payment thereof.
Next to be considered were bids for the County Depository
for the 1983-84 Biennium. Bids from the following Banks had been
received and opened on February 7, 1983.

the selection of the County Depository for the 1983-84 Biennium

Under other business the Court was advised that Easterwood
Airport desired to use a portion of the money received from the
County to purchase a fire truck and to construct a building to
house the fire truck. It was the consensus of the Court that the
money was to be used for Capital Improvements and that they con-
sider these items Capital Improvements,
There being no further business to come before the Court the
meeting was adjourned.
