HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-09-17-0900AM-Specialt ,t . i I, ~Y t r COMMISSIONERS' COURT I SPECIAL MEETING i SEPTEMBER 17, 1982 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, September 17, 1982, with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding: Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Richard Moore KAGC News Betty Miller Candidate Pct. 4 Commissioner Mike Kennedy KTAM/KORA News Arnold Dittfurth Auditor's Office Sharon Fairchild Auditor's Office Van Kinerd Auditor Carol Snedeker County Judge's Secretary Sheri Toumbs Treasurer' s Office Debbie Monroe KBTX-TV The first matter to come before the Court was discussion of the proposed tax rate for 1982. After hearing the explanation by the County Judge for the needed funds, Commissioner Beard moved to set the proposed tax rate for all property in Brazos County at .27 per $100 valuation, representing a 12k% increase over the ef- fective rate as set by the Tax Assessor Collector, and to authorize the publication of the necessary notice of Public Hearing to be set Monday, September 27, 1982, at 5:00 P.M. in the Commissioners Court Room of the Brazos County Courthouse. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox and carried unanimously. The next matter to come before the Court was the award of the bid for six photo copiers to be used in the County Complex. After discussion and accepting the recommendation of the Committee that had been appointed to analize the copiers Commissioner Stasny moved -4 i 4i , 1 i i i , ~ .4 t I i ;t 1j 1 t; i F i , { { { Y to award the bid to Central Texas Word Processing for the lease purchase of six Minolta photo copiers. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously, ~ i - 4 The Court retired into closed executive session at 9:20 A.M. t 4 to discuss legal matters. At 9:25 A.M. the session was re-opened to the Public at which r time Commissioner Cooley moved to authorize William R. Vance to institute suit versus Brazos County Development Corporation to enjoin and prevent sales of acreage tracts without compliance with the Brazos County Subdivision Regulations, The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox and carried unanimously.
