Toumbs Treasure's Office Mark Smith KBTX Joe Oliver KBTX Jim Thompson KAGC - AM Karen Boughman Blinn Jr. College Jann Snell The Eagle Barbi Tomlin WTAW Y, a p COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 25, 1982 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos' County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 25, 1982 with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding: Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; s Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of•Precinct 2; Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3; W.• A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk The first matter to come before the Court was a presentation by Jack Cumpton, Architect of the final plans for the Courthouse construction and jail. After viewing the plans and discussion of the construction to the Parking lot across 26th. Street, Commissioner Cooley moved to authorize the Architect to write the specifications and to advertise for bids for the construction or reconstruction of the Parking lot. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Beard and carried unanimously. Commissioner Beard then moved to approve } the final plans for the Courthouse, to authorize the Architect to submit the plans to the State Jail Commission, State Historical Commission and the State Department for the Handicapped, and to ad- vertise for bids when approved by the State Agencies. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny and carried unanimously. t Y _ _.".C.".~~..~~Y•"~.'~~-" _ _ ~ _ acs _ _ _ i 4 i1 I Next to be considered was a Budget Amendment to the Animal Shelter line item of the Budget for the Welfare Department in , the amount of $1500 for completion of the Animal Shelter. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by the County Judge, the Court voted unanimously to approve the Budget Amendment. A copy of which is attached. Next to be considered was the appointment of Merle Smith as Constable of Justice Precinct 3 to serve the remainder of the term. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court voted unanimously to appoint Merle Smith as Constable of Justice Precinct 3 subject to the filing of his Official Bond and taking the Oath of Office and to Amend the Bud- get for the salary. i i I The Court proceeded to the award of the bid for the purchase of asphalt paving oil for one year. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox the Court voted unani- mously to award the bid to Gulf States Asphalt Company in the amount of $25,088 and to authorize the payment as purchased. Gulf States Asphalt Company was the only bidder. Next to be considered were Notices of Proposed Installation in County Rights-of-Way as follows: 1. Lone Star Gas Company proposed to install 2, 3/4 inch service lines within the r-o-w of South Graham Road in Precinct 1. 2. Ferguson Crossing Pipe Line Company proposed to in- stall a natural gas pipeline in the r-o-w of Rabbit Lane in Precinct 4 and Dilly Shaw Tap Road in Precinct 2, and submitted the $500 crossing fee for both cross- ings. After discussion Commissioner Stasny moved to approve the applica- tions of Ferguson Crossing Pipeline Company for the crossings of Rabbit Lane and Dilly Shaw Tap Road. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Beard and carried unanimously. A copy of all applications are attached. The Court next considered for payment the following claims submitted by the County Treasurer: General Fund 2675 through 2748 Law Library 15 through 16 Capital Projects & Improvements 19 through`20 Road & Bridge Shop 137 through 143 Precinct 1 126 through 137 Precinct 2 137 through 150 Precinct 3 150 through 158 Precinct 4 124 through 133 On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Beard the Court voted unanimously to approve the claims as submitted. Next to be discussed was the Final Plat of BAYER INDUSTRIAL PARK in Precinct 2. After discussion and on motion by Commissioner , r; M1 Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Beard the Court voted unanimously to approve the final Plat as submitted. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cooley the Court voted unanimously to authorize the County Auditor to advertise for sale or trade the Bridge House Property on South College Avenue. There being no further business the Court adjourned.
