SPECIAL MEETING

A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
A.M. on Friday, February 26, 1982, with the following members
of the Court present:
W. A. Stasny, Cgmmissioner of,Precinct 4, presiding:
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk
The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

The Court having previously adopted a Resolution in support
of an on-going Fire Ant Program proceeded to discuss the method
for obtaining the Fire Ant bait. Howard Joham advised the Court
that the County Agent had received 982 requests for a total of
46,400 pounds of bait. Tom Sistrunk the County Agent advised the
Court that he had been notified by the Commissioner of Agriculture
that the cost to the property owner would be $1.00 per pound. After
much discussion and on motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by
Commissioner Cooley the Court voted unanimously to request 50,000
pounds of fire ant bait from the State Commissioner of Agriculture.
• On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
Beard the Court voted unanimously to charge $500.00 per crossing
and $25,00 per rod when paralleling the roadway for pipeline in-
stallation in County riqhts-of-way.

The next matter to come before the Court was the determina-
tion of total lateral road miles in Brazos County. After dis-
cussion, Commissioner Cooley moved that the total miles of lat-
eral roads in Brazos County be set at 454.04 miles and to certify
this as being the official tabulation of the County. Motion was
seconded by Commissioner Beard and carried unanimously.
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner
Cooley the Court voted unanimously to amend the Road and Bridge
Shop Budget to accomodate the purchase of equipment for the County
Shop. This amendment being monies transferred from one line item
to another and not increasing the budget.
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner
Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to authorize the payment of
$16,720 to Grote Contractors, Inc. for demolition of existing
structures on the Lilly Property for Courthouse expansion.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Beard the Court voted unanimously to pay the statement of R. B.
Butler, Inc. in the amount of $56,662.93 for work completed at
the Courthouse Annex and Tax Office.
The Court next considered the following claims submitted by
the Treasurer for payment:
Precinct 1 - Claim 43
Precinct 4 - Claim 32
On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Cooley
the Court voted unanimously to pay the claims as submitted.

On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner
Cooley the Court voted unanimously to authorize the Auditor to
advertise for bids for the purchase of a 16 yard used dump truck
for Precinct 3.
There being no further business the Court adjourned.

THAT WHEREAS, on Februar 26 , 1982 the Court heard and approvec,
a budget amendment or the 1982 Budget year for Brazos County, Texas.
WHEREAS, an emergency expenditure is necessary, due to grave public
necessity to meet unusual and unforseen conditions which could not be
reasonably included in the original budget adopted December 8, 1981,
the following amendement(s) to the original are hereby authorized: '
