COMMISSIONERS' COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
SEPTEMBER 3. 1981
A public hearing on the increase of the 1981 tax rate was.
held in the Commissioners' Courtroom of the Brazos County*
Courthouse on Thursday. September 3. 1981. beginning at
5:00 P.M.. as advertised in the Bryan Eagle. all in compliance
with the law, with the following members of the Court present:
R. J. Holmgreen. County Judge, presiding:
Bill J. Cooley. Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox. Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Billy Beard. Commissioner of Precinct 3;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The following citizens and officials were present:

Angela McCoy Citizen
Mike Stringer KAGC
The County Judge opened the meeting and announced this to
be the public hearing for the purpose of discussing the proposed
tax rate of $0.40 for the 1981 tax year and stated this to be an
8% increase above the rate published by the Tax Assessor-Collector.
Such increase is necessary due to salary increases granted and
budget amendments approved.
The County Judge asked for comments from the audience and
receiving none announced the public hearing closed at 5:05 P.M.
Commissioner Beard moved to increase the 1981 tax rate to $0.40
per $100.00 valuation and to set Monday. September 14. 1981, at
10:00 A.M. as the date and time to officially set the 1981 tax rate
on all real property in Brazos County. Texas. all in accordance
with law. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny, with
Commissioners Beard, Stasny. Cooley and the County Judge voting
"Aye". Commissioner Wilcox voted "No". whereupon the County Judge
announced the motion carried and the official date for setting the
11981 tax rate to be September 14. 1981. at 10:00 A.M.
There being no further business. the Court adjourned.
