J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding: Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Billy E. Beard, Comanissioner of Precinct 3; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct.4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. . I July 17, 1981 as "National MIA/POW Recognition Day". On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pass the resolution, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of these minutes. i The Court next considered a Resolution endorsing the oper- ation of the CETA Program through the Brazos Valley Development Council within Brazos County. On motion by Commissioner Beard, I seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pass the resolution, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of these minutes. On motion by Commissioner Beard, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to reappoint R. J. Holmgreen. County Judge, to the Board of Directors of the Brazos Valley Development Council for a three (3) year term beginning July 1. 1981 through June 30, 1984. The Court next considered a statement from R. B. Butler, Inc. for work completed on modifications to the Tax office and courthouse in the amount of. $86,088.97. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Beard, the Court unanimously voted to pay the statement in the amount of $86,088.97. The Court next considered payment of a statement for fire calls for the month of June, 1981 to the City of College Station. Commissioner Beard brought to the Court's attention the I matter of royalty monies being placed in escrow on land in i` 1 County road rights-of-way. After discussion Commissioner Beard moved to put all co,-apanies leasing property for oil and gas purposes on notice that the county is desirous of being noti- fied of all such properties they find in searching the records. , Motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unani- mously. " Commissioner Cooley then requested that the Court hold a L• public hearing on July 27, 1981 to discuss the closing of South Oaks Drive in Precinct 1 to all truck traffic. The Tax Assessor-Collector then discussed with the Court the collection of delinquent ad valorem taxes. Commissioner Cooley feels the Court should retain a local attorney to collect I these taxes if one is interested. The Court asked the Tax Assessor-Collector to investigate this matter. - i i There being no further business to come before the Court, the meeting was adjourned. I I - f. Brazos County is desirous of providing for the construction of a boat ramp facility on the Navasota River at the -1-itersection of Highway 21, 14 miles East of Bryan, and; WHEREAS, the State of Texas, acting through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, would provide for such construc- tion, and; WHEREAS, the construction of such a facility would be of benefit to the citizens of Brazos County as well as transient boaters from the State and other states; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Commissioners' Court in meeting this 13th day of July, 1981. will enter into a Construction Agreement with the Texas Parka and Wildlife Department to provide for this construction on a reimbursement- for-cost basis; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That R. J. Holmgreen, County -Judge, is herewith authorized to sign any or all documents pertaining to the construction; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That Brazos County will, upon completion, furnish the necessary Lease Agreement or land docu- ments to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That Brazos County will per- form the necessary housekeeping and minor maintenance at said facility, minor maintenance being defined as necessary repair not necessitating special tools, skilled labor, or large pur- chase of material. The county agrees to pick up trash, mow and otherwise maintain the said facility in a clean, neat and sanitary condition and to keep-:he ea under surveillance to eliminate the possible creations of a nuisance or hazard to the public or adjacent property owners.
