HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-01-30-1000AM-Specialr 1 y AM- I , COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING JANUARY 30, 1981 , A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 A M on Friday, January 30, 1981, with the following members of the Court present R J Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding Bill J Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1, Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Billy E Beard, Commissioner of Precinct 3, W A Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Frank Boriskie, County Clerk The following citizens and officials were in attendance, Tammy L Pardi KAGC Mary Nichols Auditor Van Kinerd Assistant Auditor Kurt Allen KTAM/KORA Richard Fronterhouse Constable, Pct 4 Jack Cumpton Architect Jann Snell The Eagle Winfred E Pittman Constable, Pct 7 Dan Colunga Colunga & Associates Phyllis Presley WTAW Jim Thompson KBTX-TV J Bradley Smith 272nd District Judge Bobby Yeager Sheriff Mary Ann Hinnrat KAMU Mike Kennedy KAMU The Court first considered the following bids for the purchase of one vehicle for the District Attorney's office 1 Halsell Motor Co - $7,260 00 2 Halsell Motor Co - $7,050 00 3 Tom Light Chevrolet Co - $7,298 00 On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to accept the low bid of Halsell Motor Company in the amount of $7,050 00 The Court next considered the following bids for the purchase of ventilation and smoke exhaust equipment, smoke detection equipment and communications equipment to be installed in the Jail VOL-O'na, `7 COMMISSIONERS' COURT MEETING - JANUARY 30, 1981 CONTINUED VOLL-PACIE <ZW r1. Exhaust Equipment a T. W. Smith - $2,001 00 2. Smoke Detection Equipment a, Simplex - $6,471 00 b Electronics Unlimited - $5,960.00 3. Communication System Equipment a. Audio Communication Equipment - $2,222.15 b. Electronics Unlimited -2,102.00 After discussion Commissioner Cooley moved to refer all bids to the Architect for evaluation and authorized the Architect to award the bids to the best bidder and secure prices on equip- ment that was not bid. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Beard and carried unanimously The Court next heard a presentation by Richard Fronterhouse, Constable, Precinct 4 and Winfred E. Pittman, Constable, Precinct 7, requesting six (6) additional mobile radios and one (1) base station, making a total of ten (10) mobile units, (5 each for Precinct 5 & 7), two (2) hand held units (1 each for Precinct 5 & 7) and one (1) base station After discussion regarding problems of the existing system and dispatching, Commissioners Cooley and Beard were appointed to meet with the Constables and Sheriff to analyze the problems and to report back to the Court at their next scheduled meeting. The Court then proceeded to discuss the computer study of Brazos County. After explanation and discussion of the study, it was the consensus of the Court to proceed with the second level of the study and requested the Consultant to assist in locating a competent programmer for the County.
