HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-01-15-0900AM-SpecialCOMMISSIONERS' COURT ' SPECIAL MEETING JANUARY 15, 1981 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 15, 1981 with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding: Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1, Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2Billy E. Beard, Commissioner of Precinct W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Prank Boriskie, County Clerk, The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Jim Thompson KBTX-TV Scott DeLucia KBTX-TV Joe Taylor Citizen Tony Lapaglia Citizen John E. Hawtrey Attorney Marlene Vail Court reporter Travis B. Bryan III District Attorney W. R. Vance Attorney L. T Watson College Station Police Department Phyllis Presley WTAW John Weaver The Press John M Barron, Jr. Citizen Tim Cumings The Eagle Michael L Patterson College Station Police Department Greg Moses KTAM Lydia Johnson KAMU Mike Cannata KAMU The County Judge opened the meeting and announced the pur- pose of this meeting was to consider the APPLICATION TO CANCEL MASSAGE PERMIT for the MASSAGE PARLOR PERMIT issued to Deirdre Ann Linthwaite doing business as LADY T. MASSAGE CLINIC and MASSAGERS PERMITS issued to CAROL SUE BURNETTE HARTMAN, JOANNA LYN RYAN, and JILL L. COOPER. William R. Vance was present to act as legal counsel for the Commissioners' Court. Mr. John Hawtrey, Attorney, was present and announced that he represented all parties named in the Application except Jill L Cooper and that none of his clients were present He announced that he was not prepared to proceed at this time on grounds that all of his clients named in the Application had not been properly notified, that the Application served on Deirdre Ann Linthwaite was not complete in that it did not in- clude the attachments, that until January 14, 1981, and no jurisdiction because the Attorney would be criminal accept evidence except by a uance the attachments were not received that the Commissioners' Court has evidence presented by the District Ln nature and the Court cannot conviction, and requested a contin- Mr Bryan asked that the hearing continue. The County Judge announced that the Court agreed to con- tinue the hearing until Friday, February 6, 1981, 9 00 A M. based on the first arguement and asked if Mr. Hawtrey would accept service of Notice of Hearing for all persons named in the Application except Jill L Cooper if an amended Applica- tion were filed, to which Mr. Hawtrey answered "yes", where- upon the County Judge announced the hearing reset to Friday, February 6, 1981, at 9 00 o'clock A M. Mr. Bryan gave notice of a conflict on January 30, 1981, the date previously set for the hearing on the APPLICATION TO CANCEL MASSAGE PERMIT for ANNS SPA, and requested a setting of February 4, 1981, 1.30 P M. The Court unanimously agreed to this date and asked that Mr. Bryan notify Mr Palmer of the change. The Court proceeded to consider a request to advertise for bids for the purchase of a vehicle by Brazos County.
