COMMISSIONERS' COURT ,
SPECIAL MEETING
JULY 28, 1980
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10 00
A.M on Monday, July 28, 1980 with the following members of
the Court present

The Court heard a presentation from a delegation regard-
ing use of the Arena & Pavilion on Tabor Road. After much
discussion and receiving many suggestions, the County Judge
thanked the group for coming. No action was taken as none
was necessary
1 The July term of Court being the time set by law, for
the appointment of election judges for the current voting
year, the Court proceeded to the appointment of election

The Court next considered the payment of fire calls to
the City of College Station in the amount of $806.09. Commis-
stoner Wilcox moved for the payment of the statement from
the City of College Station in the amount of $806 09 Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously
The Court next considered amendments to the 1980 Budget
On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court unanimously approved the amendments to the
1980 Budget, a copy of which is attached to and made a part
of these minutes
The Court next considered the Final Plat of FAUBIAN
MEADOWS in Precinct 4 On motion by Commissioner Stasny,
seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously approved
the plat subject to the following

1 Knocking out construction on entrance road
2. Installation of street signs
3 Filing of Maintenance Bond
The Court next considered the Preliminary Plat of FOXFIRE,
PHASE III in Precinct 1 On motion by Commissioner Cooley,
seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously approved
the plat subject to the following
1. Changing the subdivision line at southwest end of
Frost Drive.
The Court next considered the Preliminary Plat of FROEHLING
ADDITION in Precinct 3 On motion by Commissioner Cargill,
seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously approved
the plat as submitted
The Court next considered the Final Plat of OLD SPANISH
TRAIL ESTATES in Precinct 4. On motion by Commissioner Stasny,
seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously approved
the plat subject to the following
1. Naming and installation of all street signs
2 Filing Maintenance Bond in the amount of $8,000
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Stasny, the Court unanimously approved Requests For Change In
Status Of Employees as follows

The Court was informed of Commissioner Cooley's resigna-
tion from the Board of Directors of the Brazos County Informa-
tion and Hospitality Center. It was his recommendation that
Phyllis Dozier be appointed for the remainder of his term.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Judge Holmgreen,
the Court unanimously approved the appointment of Phyllis

Dozier to fill the vacancy created by Commissioner Cooley's

The County Judge informed the Court that the Texas

Commission on Jail Standards found 19 discrepancies in the jail
t
of which 18 variances were granted. The County Judge recommended
that the Sheriff be authorized to employ additional jailers
A
to bring the jail up to compliance On motion by Commissioner
Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously
voted to employ these additional persons

The Court retired into Executive Closed Session to discuss
personnel.

The County Judge announced the meeting opened and upon
motion duly made and seconded the Court adjourned
