R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding- Bill J Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1, Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, H L. Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3, W A. The Court next considered a proclamation declaring April 14 through April 20, 1980 as "Western Days" in Brazos County. ' On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously approved and adopted the procla- mation. The Court next heard a presentation by Kathleen Kenefick representing the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters regarding a Solid Waste Program The AAUW and the League urge the Court to cooperate in any programs for the recovery of solid waste The Court next heard a presentation from Mr. Brad Crane, spokesman for the Grand Jury who made the following recommen- dations 1 That the Commissioners' Court not cut funding for the Juvenile Court 2 That the Commissioners' Court give serious consider- ation to the matter of an investigator for the District Attorney's office The Court next considered requests from the Brazos-County Firefighters Association to utilize funds for the repair and maintenance of a truck for Precinct 2 in the amount of $472.64. Conmissioner Wilcox moved to authorize payment for these repairs. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Cargill and carried unani- mously. The Firefighters Association also requested authori- zation to advertise for bids for the purchase of equipment to bring all Volunteer Fire Departments up to minimum standards. The following bids were received 1. Houston Scale Company, Inc a. Axle Load Scale - $7739 50 b. Digital indicator - portable - $850 00 c. Digital indicator- desk mount - $1240.00 d. Printing indicator - $850 00 2 Abbot Scales, Inc. a. Eldec low height axle scales - $15900.00 b. Portable Digital indicator - $1900.00 c. Digital indicator - $1300 00 , d. Printing indicator - $4900 00 It was the concensus of the Court that these bids be studied further. No action was taken at this time. The Court next considered a request by Sheriff Bobby Yeager to acquire a License and Weight patrolman. Commissioner Cargill moved to authorize the Sheriff to proceed to put this officer into effect. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox with those voting, voting "Aye ", whereupon the County Judge announced the motion carried. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously approved the payment-of fire calls to the City of College Station in the amount of $1,449 34 On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commis- sioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously approved authorization for six (6) land owners to install a sewer line in the right - of -way of Oak Forest Drive and Overcrest Drive in Precinct 3. The Court next considered the Final Plat of SILVER HILL ESTATES in Precinct 4. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously approved the plat as presented subject to the filing of a maintenance bond On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously approved Requests For Change In Status of Employees as follows.
