James Smith KAMU -TV Bill Davie KAMU -TV John Morris The Eagle Greg Moses KBTX -TV Wm H McLeod Texas Voting Systems The Court first considered the adoption of the Order canvassing the returns of the bond election held January 26, 1980 On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to adopt the Order, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of these minutes. The Court next reconsidered the Contract for Appraisal Services between Brazos County and Pritchard and Abbott. An i f amendment had been added to the contract should the county elect to enter into a single appraisal district prior to the second i year of the contract, said contract will become null and void without penalty or payment On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to enter into the agreement. The County Judge next announced the swearing in of the Brazos County Appraisal Board and read the elected officers as follows COMMISSIONERS' COURT MEETING - JANUARY 31, 1980 CONTINUED I V0L.Q..PAGE_&.A- B. F Vance, Chairman Dietrich Bengs, Vice Chairman A C Vinzant, Secretary The Court next considered the request by the Justice of the Peaces for travel expenses which had been passed at the previous meeting. The Court had much discussion on the sub- ject of what type of compensation was needed. The matters and facts recited in the above preamble of this order are found to be true and correct. r Section 2. The election held in the County on the 26th day of January, 1980, and which is more fully described in the preamble of this order, was called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; the election was held in all respects in conformity with law; only resident, qualified electors of the County voted at the election; returns of the election have been lawfully made by the proper officers] the election has resulted favorably to the issuance of the bonds of the County described in the propositions submitted at the election and the levy and collection of the tax in payment thereof; and more than the L necessary majority of the qualified voters voting at the election have voted in favor thereof. Section 3. The Commissioners Court of the County is au- thorized to issue all of the bonds described in the aforesaid propositions, to levy and collect taxes in payment thereof, and to do any and all things necessary or convenient in connection therewith. Section 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that the need of the County for such financing creates an emer- gency and an urgent public necessity for the holding, at the scheduled time, of the meeting at which this order is adopted and for the adoption of this order; and the NOTICE OF MEETING relating to said meeting and heretofore posted by the County- Clerk of the County, and the posting thereof, are hereby au- thorized, approved, adopted, ratified, and confirmed.
